>We’ve received new information that suggests the game is now called ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ and is currently scheduled to be revealed at E3 2017.
>Origins is a vast open world experience taking place in ancient Egypt. The story is rumoured to revolve around the original assassin’s guild and will feature two main characters - a man and a woman.
>Its structure is said to be less linear, featuring a character progression system less tied to the story akin to Skyrim.
>The game will grant the player considerably more freedom, featuring a greater emphasis on exploration over previous entries in the series.
>This is the biggest Assassin’s Creed Ubisoft has ever created and is “huge” in scope. They say that it has been in development for “at least” several years now and will benefit from this extended development cycle.

Who HYPED here?
Not only is Origins rumoured to boast an explorable ancient Egypt, players will also apparently be able to go beyond it - possibly even as far as Greece. We were told that boats will return in the game, allowing the player to sail the Mediterranean. Naval combat, naturally, is also said to be included.
>>

I fucking hate open worlds so much. This one friend I have loves Fallout 4 for some dumb fucking reason and only wants to play open world games now because of it. But not just any open world games - they have to have camera angles that can switch from first to third person, and have to play like Fallout 4. He is unable to play any TES game because they don't have guns.

>>
>>376207462
because they fired the blood of the franchise, Patrice desillet, and is also why the present stuff gets worse every new installment, syndicate kinda made it interesting again by making it a chapter within the animus and setting it in ww1 London but it still dropped the ball and hasn't really moved the forward since 3
Juno has been reemerging for 4 games, sages have been killed for 3 games, and series keeps moving forward in history while staying static with the story and gameplay
I remember them making a big deal that they couldn't wait to not have to deal with Desmond anymore and now they they can't even move the story forward at all.
I'm hoping this long pause for the series has given the series time collect itself and actually move the story.
yearly releases just murders a series way too quickly

2>4>syndicate>the rest
Unity has a block of wood for a protagonist, it focuses to much on romance, Elise is annoying 90% of the time, the combat is the worst in the series, the hot new gimmick gadget is an after thought and the clusterfuck that was ac Unity after release before they patched it, kinda.

syndicate, and even Rouge, are way better than Unity, and the hot new gimmick gadget for syndicate doesn't actually kill the climbing like most people think, it just makes it better because you don't have to climb absolutely everything and only what's necessary, climbing anything might have been fun for the first 2 games because it's was 'next gen' and still impressive to be able to do that in a game, but got old after really fast after 2, the games set in the Americas got around it by spamming counter weight thingies everywhere and it had the naval stuff and the building weren't as tall. Unity, needed something other than counter weights that they used to hide the climbing, ac embraced it and made the game fun again, the combat is also a nice change.
though game still suffers from tailing missions and collectathon like all the ac games

This isn't necessarily a positive, and knowing the franchise we're going to get more repetitive and empty side quests.

During the Bronze Age all civilizations of the Mediterranean were deeply interconnected and where heavily dependent on naval trades routes.
The most obvious reason for this being for the manufacturing of bronze, which requires 90% copper and 10% tin; the main sources of copper being Cyprus and Crete, while tin came from Afghanistan.

You know what would be good? A game about actually assassinating targets.

The first game was good because you couldn't tank 20 enemies at once just by smashing the controller. Then after the assassination, you ran like a bitch to avoid getting destroyed by the guards.

Since then it's "God I'm bored, lets see how many guards I can get on me before I kill them all with ease."

And this whole, "muh open world" is boring as fuck. I'd rather them put you on railroads that actually has interesting fights and mechanics rather than, "got to walk 5 minutes across this empty land to get to the next part of the story."
>>
>>376211896
ACIV was a success because it took an interesting time in history and used it in an engine they just needed to refine a bit. Add in Matt Ryan's sexy ass voice and a surprisingly decent character-development done in one sitting and it turned out more satisfying than ACIII or ACI-Brohood's cliffhanger endings.

more emphasis on ship combat than black fag which is good

I actually rather like that Edward has a distinctly different ending than all the other protagonists. Whereas Arno fucking Dorian, after getting ousted, is soon revealed to be a master assassin 20 years later, Edward was just an antihero who lived with rum and died without any special bearing to the Assassin name, held only by Haytham and his letters in regards to the future of the Assassins and Templars.

Oh boy, skill trees and minimal story content. Egypt will only be a good setting if it's pretty much the Egypt of Rome. It's a fairly boring history and setting otherwise.

>>376213664
the Creed has basically been around since the Isu created humanity and enslaved them, they just made it into a secret club, gave it a name and started doing traditions later on. My guess is that sometime after the solar wave hit the earth, pockets of humanity started to spread across the globe and most of the knowledge of their origin, the Isu and the pieces of eden where lost overtime, until AC1, where Altair finds out what the pieces are after killing Al Mualim and later when Ezio finds Minerva the knowledge is restored
Maybe Egypt AC focuses on when the assassins gave their secret club a name and rules before they referred to themselves as the Creed, instead of just being called an assassin, as in the actual definition and not like later on where its shaped and formed into an idea.

The best part about the over used excuse is that it'll probably be the Egypt of the late Republic so they can use Caesar, Cleopatra, Marc Antony, Cicero, Octavian, Brutus, Cassius, etc. which is essentially the only period of Roman history that's ever used in mass media despite much more interesting (IMO) periods like the fall of the west or the Crisis of the Third Century.

God imagine a proper Crisis era game. Fightan Germanics and Persians, assassinating emperors, pure chaos.

The best setting, that also wouldn't be overused, is the Balkans pre-World War I. The entire thing was a confusing mess of genocide, irredentism, terrorism, assassination plots, secret societies holding more power than the government and precarious political balancing acts between great powers to avoid a powder keg from going off. Read The Sleepwalkers by Christopher Clark and tell me that wouldn't make a great setting.

The movie is not bad, but it's not good either, it's incredibly average and it's mostly just for hardcore fans, that want to hear from the movie what they already know, and all the easter eggs and references from the games
There's plenty, the main bad guy from AC liberation has a descendant in this film, Shao Jun, the Chinese assassin that Ezio trained has a descendant, the assassin Edward kills at the very beginning of Ac4 has a descendant as well, Yusuf from ac revelations, Arno is an ancestor to Callum and descendant of Aguilar, the animus from ac2 is in the background, the main antagonist of the film and founder of abstergo is also the same guy at the end of AC1 telling video to speed up the test with Desmond, bunch of other stuff.

Nope. Without a decent and believable world gameplay is nothing. Fun to play for an hour but then completely repetitive. Many games like Oblivion had poor gameplay but a fun explorable and believable world. If Bethesda added in ray guns into Oblivion it would have ruined the game. It does not fit with expectations or the lore of the world.
Max Payne 3 had great gameplay but the story was lacking which made it far less fun to play.

Open world games done right are amazing. I just doubt Ubisoft is capable of releasing a good open world game. The closest they ever got to that was Black Flag and that was mostly due to how awesome naval combat was in that game.

How the fuck are they going to pull off naval combat in Ancient Egypt. The best they had back then were shitty rafts. I'm assuming they will include a portion of the Mediterranean sea if they are putting emphasis on naval combat. If it is just going to be the Nile river this will be pretty fucking boring. Getting attacked by crocodiles and hippos will be the biggest threat.

No. Edward was literally motivated by THE MONEY that the package of Duncan Walpole would give him if he brought it back La Habana, and then things happened.

And yes, despite what you said, to the majority of the people across the internet (me included) BF always felt the most disconnected game in the entire franchise, like it doesn't belong because it'smore of a pirates game than anything else.

Nah he was all like "THE OBSERVATORY" to the point where in a tv show starring Blackbeard, he'd be the crazy superstitious supporting character.

It would have been so easy for all parties involved.
>>
I would love an rts type of game with assassin's creed, you play as a much older assassin that's not in the field anymore and gives orders to attack templars and the other faction I can't remember right now, you promote and recruit and attack, sorta like brotherhood/revelations but deeper and more involved and not as streamlined and it's not an action adventure game like the other ac game's.
you can choose your master assassin elder to be a more strict dogmatic leader like in Rouge, or more cult-like, like Unity, more organized but flexible like Ezio's, wreck less and not as organized like Black Flag
religious like masyaf, or former master assassin turned templar, and obviously very strict.
turned templars would be easy mode faction because you could get resources and shit easier

Arno had street smarts and sarcasm, nerfed only by how much he drools over Elise.

Connor was treated as a savage everywhere and had trouble understanding morality and culture in regards to Achilles's skin color or why explaining one's innocence is never enough. As his target once said, "Wields a blade like a man, but a mouth like a child".

>>376216597
after 3 they started entertaining the idea that templars aren't strictly be all end all evil and fleshed them out a little, kinda like halo 2 did with the elites.
It also highlights how assassins aren't perfect either, which I liked a lot about that black flag(what little black flag touched on) and Rouge which is the whole focus, basically all the games set in the Americas, touched on this in some way.

I never thought there would come a time that I would hate something more than ACIII and Unity's disappointments...

Fuck.

My only thing with this list of info is the naval battles...I'm pretty sure they didn't have cannons that far back in time so I wonder how those would work
