You're not gonna have ton of fun if you just play velvet with "you decide" on X and spam it, that's for sure.

Great character interaction and story with the best graphics so far in the franchise. Combat is a step up from Zestiria but cannot compare to the combat of previous titles.

Having to mix and match annoying fucking moves together to hit 6 weaknesses on mobs feels like shit because half the moves feel awful

God hand did combo creation and it felt good because you picked moves that felt good, not because it had arbitrary elemental or mob type tags associated with it

You're in for addictive but spammy combat with lots of voice acting announcing artes, it has some CUHRAYZEE to it as well

You're also in for wanting to waifu villager velvet, and wanting to lick Magilou's pits

Overall, 8/10 breddy good Action JRPG

Another ARPG that could have been good if not for dipshit AI party members getting in the way and turning the battlefield into a chaotic mess.

It has been over 10 years since FFXII's gambit system and devs learned nothing.

An enjoyable story with a group of anti-heroes who are genuinely anti-heroes, rather than good guys who dress in black. I enjoyed that the game doesn't shy away from them stealing, murdering or committing actions that will harm the innocent.

However, the combat got just too tedious for me. I played about 40 hours and was still not too far into the game, but just couldn't face yet more dungeons/locations full of enemies where all I had to do was set the relevant attacks at the entrance, and mash whatever button matched the enemy.

A linear JPRG with real time combat. The combat is so/so, not the best of the franchise but it's so/so. You might get tired of it eventually. The banter is the strong point and the story itself is alright. Really the part I like about Tales games is the main party talking to one another throughout the journey but as you might expect it doesn't add much to replay value.

I like the party in this one. It's a bit of a mix up compared to the usual characters and Velvet is trying so hard to be a edgy anti-hero it's amusing when people reveal her actual character through teasing.

The story is a bit of roller-coaster and it's alright I guess. I wouldn't pay $60 for this game or get the DLC, but if you're into Tales games it's probably worth it.
