For me, it was the first time I'd ever felt sad in an RPG for choosing the choice I felt was right. I don't think I'd ever encountered a choice in an RPG where choosing the honorable decision makes you feel so terrible, before then. I don't know if you could actually interject and disobey her orders, because I've only done one play through of Dragons Dogma, but that scene sticks with me as one of the more memorable choices I've made in an RPG to this date. I love what she represents as a character you interact with -- that doing the right thing can still make you feel like an asshole. I wish we saw more of that, instead of being rewarded by doing the right thing in a game.

Not him, but it's actually pretty fun. It has decent action combat, climbing is a fun gimmick, and it has a decent gameplay loop. It's less of a MMO spinoff and more of a co-op DD game - and that's something that the western MMO market doesn't have. We've had WoW clones for years, and DDO is something different.

The main issue is that a lot of stuff was lost in the transition. You can't grab onto other objects/enemies anymore (probably because they'd have to either make it so you either couldn't pick up other players, or give you a way to break out of a hold), you only have 4 moves instead of 6 due to one button being reserved for a dedicated action, the vast majority of quests are typical MMO stuff or things typical of Monster Hunter (hunt down X big monster in a dungeon/open area), and

I just finished season 1 of Dragon's Dogma Online.
It was as enjoyable as Dragon's Dogma

Base stats don't mean shit past the very, very beginning of the game. Keeping your gear up to par is worth a lot more. But even better than that is actually exploiting enemy weaknesses.

It's a combination of pawn manager to temporarily switch support pawns with main pawn to edit skills and class, and hooks mod to level them up. You can change how they look by switching a support to main and use hooks mod to unlock character customization. Just make sure to set your pawns back to their original spots though (Main to main pawn slot, second support pawn to the second support slot etc.) Inventory is tied to the slots and not the pawns themselves.

The weapons are too useful for leveling new classes quickly for me to ignore them totally.

Fun as shit and even better on PC. Kind of wish you could break the eternal ring though. Becoming the "god" of that world kind of bums you out when you realize you are trapped and doomed to repeat it over and over. A sequel is needed. Something that goes deeper into how the universe works and a way to break the ring would be cool.

In vanilla, stocking up on ferrystones was difficult, as was the original intention. Somewhat hard to come by and being a bit of a luxury in terms of gold in early game, there was once choice in choosing to use one of the few fast travel items you had or just make do and get back to Gran Soren/Cassardis on foot. This was of course changed completely with the introduction of the eternal ferrystone, which iirc is handed to your character after making to Gran Soren for the first time(I didn't play nearly as much DA as vanilla unfortunately so feel free to correct).

Whether you're for or against the eternal ferrystone luxury change, "immersion breaking" hardly fits as an argument against and MUCH less on it's own. I played through and enjoyed the game just fine back when the original system was in place.

I never got into this because I had sound issues I was never able to find a solution for. The volume was fine up to the main title screen, but after that it dropped to be nearly inaudible, I'd have to max my speaker volume to hear anything, and even then it was faint.

Not him but I would understand someone being really into immersion and then turning the hud down and avoiding using ferrystones entirely apart from 2-3 instances (mainly Bitterblack). If they want to use them once in a while they buy them cheap from Fournival

However I went through all of vanilla DD with very very few ferrystones and running such long distances on limited stamina can be really inconsiderate of the players time. You get used to the same sights and vistas y'know? I think the inclusion of more placeable portcrystals and the eternal ferrystone is brilliant, especially for ADD spastics like me.

Ho....ly....SHIT. I played a ton back then, I went through the process of sending both fake and real items depending on my mood and how I liked the pawn. I observed a ton of minute and otherwise worthless things you can do in the game.

And yet I never even thought to at least TRY to forge a ferrystone or use a forged one. 5 years later, seeing this is completely new to me. The way it just drops back down without any fanfare is so fucking perfect. What a game.
