What does /v/ think of the new Quake? Playing the closed beta

didn't get invited to the beta, fucking Bethesda

I always get a physical invite to the playtesting during the alpha stage of bethesda games

I take the time to send them an explanation of why they are a terrible company and shouldn't have ownership of these IPs

but they keep inviting me for some reason, I guess they don't read my reply

The jumping is a bit wierd though. Feels like it differs between the characters. I never played a quake game since the first though so maybe they changed it.

sound effects and voices are annoying
the champion balancing and gimmicks only detract from the core of the gameplay rather than add anything

It's telling that there's no buzz about this at all, no-one cares. The classes/abilities are crap, the movement's crap, the weapons are boring, netcode is crap, sound is crap, performance is crap.

And unlike MOBA characters, it literally does not matter who you choose. You can play anyone at any time and it has no effect on anything. Hell, classic mode when released would fix most of those problems.

Game is really broken, hitreg is a complete joke. Needs a lot of balance work, rail really shouldn't do 100 damage zoomed, or ever for that matter. Everyone should start with enough health/armor to not get one shot off spawn. All tanks are worthless, only sorlag could possibly be used, slash is not worth using at all either.

It is amazing fun, the game is 90% Quake, the best aspects of Quake and 10% Overwatch, the most fun aspects of Overwatch. I really love it. Playing it on 144hz screen is so gooooood.

There's an assload of Quake 1 content though. Quake 1 is still better than 90% of single player FPS games out there.

I've already gone through on Nightmare difficulty: Quake, Scourge of Armageddon, Dissolution of Eternity, Dimensions of the Past, and Arcane Dimensions.
and I still want more.
