Time traveler here, I come from the year 2077.
VR technology has advanced to the point where it's an every man technology. Due to fossil fuels becoming an almost sacred resource, motorsports have largely become a thing of the past. Replaced by VR perfect simulations that allow fans to sit in the crowds and watch in real time.
After 73 years Nintendo brings back F-Zero with a new game to capitalize on this growing VR Motorsports trend. The game is called F-Zero VX and similar to Steel Battalion has 1 to 1 interior control of F-Zero machines.
The game becomes a global phenomenon and the most popular e-sport in ages. Racers who never played video games even become a part of it.
