Competition is fine
This generation just hasn't been that impressive in making the case for competition, though

Consoles are inherently anti-competition

PC as a market encompasses all competition it needs. Its an open platform. Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox are all closed platforms. They compete against each other by making exclusives, which is very bad for players.

I own a Pc and a PS4 and use both often. I want consoles in general to die though, all games on one system which you can customize to your own wishes is perfect but I also want to play Sonyexclusives, if they came to pc I would play them on pc. Nintendo should stop making consoles just like Sony and Microsoft, the death of Sega as console producer was a good day.

True handheld systems like the 3Ds can still exist though.

I had an AMD CPU when it was first built but I have an i5 now.

For reference over that same period of time I have spent around $2000 on consoles, console accessories, console repairs, and XBL/PSN. And that was buying used consoles and accessories for the most part.

I bought it for $250. Then I needed a second controller, which was an additional $40. Then I needed PS+ since otherwise I couldn't play Bloodborne's multiplayer (IE a major component of the only game on the system that I gave a shit about until P5 came out) which was $50 for a year.

The other cost is including the cost of everything I spent on consoles in general from 2010 until now. So it includes a PS3, a 360, accessories/subscriptions for those consoles, repairs for those consoles (just the 360 really), a Wii-U, a PS4, an Xbone (don't feel like installing the W10 botnet and I expected Scalebound to not get cancelled), and subscriptions/accessories for those. That price will probably go up once the Switch actually has games too.

Yes, I'd just prefer there being no consoles because it would mean more competition in actual development rather than competition over exclusives (that often end up fucking cancelled like Scalebound), but that's not going to happen at all so I just settle for buying consoles used and as cheap as possible. In a perfect world consoles would stop existing and I wouldn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on an underpowered closed platform with a terrible interface and operating system just to play one or two games.
