I liked BotW, but I'm having trouble thinking of "secrets" because the only real reward you find anywhere is fucking shrines. Though I guess accidentally finding the one in Hyrule Castle was pretty cool.

More overworld bosses, caves, a way to explore underwater like in Lake Hylia, a way to actually enter and explore Death Mountain, more enemy variation, rewards that aren't Korok Seeds, Rupees, or Shrines.

There's this one shrine in Hebra where you can see it from behind a crevice, but you have to find your way around it since you can't fit. That one took me awhile.

Unfortunately, I don't think the game has any really good secrets, due to the fact that the only hidden treasures you'll find break rather quickly, it makes most of them pretty meaningless as well.

Needs a repair system or something else, they were going for the Skyrim idea of always being rewarded for exploring, they should find some other way, constantly having to juggle weapons is a chore and has kept me from replaying the game

ruins of guardians can often be upturned, revealing gears lying underneath them - the easiest way to do this is with one laying on water and placing a cryonis pillar under it to topple it over.

Probably not a "secret," but I didn't know about the dragons until like 10 hours in. Was dicking around Faron and saw a huge, scaly, golden tail disappear over the horizon. Camped out over a few nights trying to figure out where it spawned and despawned. Really cool.
I guess I would've liked to see more area-specific enemies. Like, what if lizalfos were only present in warm/tropical regions and were replaced by wolfos in cold climates?

How do we define secret? Something that I didn't expect to be somewhere? A surprising reward?

Can gameplay be a secret too? When I realized I could climb waterfalls with Cryonis, it felt to me like I had discovered a secret even though I later found a shrine that taught the concept.
