The story is a convoluted clusterfuck. And I love it.. The first game released nearly 10 years ago and has been built upon with each game. If you have any interrest in the story, you really should play the games in the proper order.
As for getting into fighting games BB should be a nice starting point but the game will be long dead on PC before you get good.

The anime is shit. Honestly don't touch it unless you've played the first two games already (Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift) just to laugh at it.

The story is really good though. Honest to god one of my favorite (albeit weeb) stories in a game. Not just fighting games, but gaming in general. The story is very much worth following if you're into anime or jrpg stories. The story is largely visual novel with the occasional fight, so you could get away with watching the story on Youtube, which I highly recommend.

The story is not short though. Like, not remotely short. Each game's story is fucking long and meaty, so if you want to get into it, be prepared to invest the hours. It's worth it IMO.

Is Nine a good character for a begginer?

BB is an excelent game to get into Fighting games. I learned the advanced stuff in it and Tatsunoko vs Capcom because I felt they were a lot slower than King of Fighters and other games. Also tutorials are excelent and funny.

So, answering your questions:
-Story mode is good if you liked how characters look and their music themes. The lore is deep and it is explained but gets really stupid complicated as Kingdom Hearts series. I think CF gets all the story explained
-Xbone seems okay. I have only played Killer Instinct with it but it felt WAY better than the 360 one. I've never tried BB in KB
-I like the Jin theme because it feels like he is a superhero, just like they call him. There are other cool songs, but the really best is Condemned Wings (Tsubaki's theme, don't know if I wrote it well)

She has good range on her buttons, but you might end up relying on her dash too much which won't carry over to other characters. She also has few defensive options besides her pseudo-burst move so you'll have a hard time getting people off of you.

Let's talk about Tsubaki Yayoi! She is objectively the best girl in the series. Oh, you want proof? Okay!

First of all, she gets the best ending. She is not comatose or anything like that. She has become a highranking member of the NOL. Not only that, she wins the Jin Bowl! Wow, how exciting!

But that's not all! She's so best, she gets TWO (2) endings! She also becomes the new Hakumen and defender of justice. Wow Tsubaki, Mori lets you win TWO (2) bowls? She's so great!

You don't get gud by playing story mode. If you want to improve in any fighting game, you have to grind matches against other players

Those are all the voice cues and battle quotes I was used to, felt jarring to be forced to jap audio. 5B is a good normal, her best poke, have fun with it. It allows you to go into basic mixups using 6A/2B. Your confirms are also easy since you can go into 5CC and charge cancel the last hit to make it even on block. Obviously hammer (22B/D) is also great and plus on block (both versions)

no time to type much about combos, but on a basic level you take any starter into 2CC > sjc > j.BB > jc > j.BCC > j.236A >j.214A, works fine on midscreen or corner. For one install you can get juicy extra damage using 22D (stuff > 236B > 214B > 22CD > stuff)

tsubaki is strong af in CF and very much worth getting gud with
