I grew up poor but managed to have some nice stuff. Dad got me a ps1 for Christmas. Mom got me a gba down the line. I bought a used ps2 with money I got from doing oddjobs around during summer. Later also bought a used broken psp and ordered some pieces and fixed it myself (dad taught me the basics of electronics as a kid). My best friend had 2 computers at his place so whenever I visited I could play computer games with him.

Now it feels good being able to buy whatever I want but due to what I suppose is sheer habit it still feels weird paying more than 30 bucks for a videogame and I very rarely do so. I also think I used to enjoy videogames more, I squeezed everything I could out of them; nowadays I often get bored or burned out quickly.

I had that shitty DBZ game for Ps2 for like a year and I didn't even have a memory card too.
Also, the net I had was so bad I couldn't be bothered to pirate games.

Before I got a ps2 (right before the ps3 came out) the only games I could play were on those cheap shitty NES knockoffs that come with a bunch of weird games packed in. Playing shit like NFS Most Wanted and GTA SA for the first time blew me away.

I've been making up for it by emulating all the great games I missed, I even feel kinda privileged because I get to experience them for the first time in glorious 1080p

I don't know details, maybe they simply shopped for that stuff together but we'd always get the same stuff, me and my 4 cousins. When he was unable to get internet due to his parents having to cut off the phone line, I gave him my Dreamcast and bought him a tub of blank CDs for his birthday in 2003. Got a PS3 around 2013 played it till I bought a gaymen rig with pre built at a garage sale for 5 bucks Which fucking had an I5 3330 and 8gb of ram and a 2tb HDD. Ended up putting in an I7 2600 in it and another 4gb of ram and a 750ti. Then I saved up and put a 1070 in it. Been a ride console gaming. Never again.
