You have 10 seconds to defend volume-based inventory versus weight or slot based.
Weight will always be the best, but there's nothing wrong with inventory tetris

If by "nothing wrong" you mean migraines because you have to move shit around to make room every 20 minutes instead of playing the game

Well, I think the fact that weight-based inventory has more granularity than grid-based inventory is more important.

BOY I SURE LOVE A HANDFUL OF BULLETS TAKING UP THE SAME AMOUNT OF SPACE AS HALF OF A HANDGUN
Inventory tetris is objectively the best.

Space games

Its irrelevant as the best system to use is volume AND weight based.
While weight seems more accurate to real life, being how much you yourself can carry, the volume based is more akin to HOW you carry that weight. You can't rightly carry 10 assault rifles efficiently, even though you could carry 80 pounds.
IMO, you need a mix of both in our to give a realistic inventory.

Autistic retards arguing which pile of shit stinks less when the only correct choice is no restriction at all.
If a game needs to add some memetic shit to stop you from carrying whatever you want then that game is shit.
Very simple.

Human Revolution/Mankind Divided have auto-sorting.
How about a mix?
-Weapons/key items/consumables take up slots.
- You can designate a slot to ammo or crafting goods, which filled up based on weight. You wouldn't be limited on slots for carrying multiple ammo types.
As an example, a gun-nut could have 3-4 guns and lots of ammo storage slots, and a stealth character could use 1-2 guns, a single ammo slot, and use the free space for hacking/cloaking items.
Inventory burden is fucking cancer. Either let me play Tetris or let me carry an unlimited amount of shit and maybe apply weight penalties to equipped items.

>the realistic buzzword again
Why not make a 9 to 5 simulator or a neet simulator? That's realistic. Nobody plays games for realism
