Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Get rid of the random elements (Damage, stun, ect), and normalize them.
Lower the execution barrier, and open the reversal window a bit.
Put in Virtua Fighter 5's grab system instead of the one that already exists. Each character has 3 grabs: One that can be juggled out of, one that does a lot of damage but doesn't knockdown, and one that does less damage but causes hard knockdown as well as enabling throw loops.
Damage is about 15% lower across the board..
There is no default super meter or meter management. Each character has a completely different way to manage their meter. Some are based on existing fighting games (One character has SF3 inspired meter, another has the classic Super Turbo meter), while some are more unique (One character has a metronome at the bottom, that makes moves stronger when they're hit at the right time. One character's meter is actually a list of moves you have to land before you can use a super.)
The typical points you get when playing arcade mode are also used in multiplayer. In between rounds, you can use them to get more health/damage/meter next round, or unlock access to an additional move that might be more situational than the default movelist. If you are playing arcade mode, spending these takes away from your high score, and the AI will spend theirs freely. You can only spend points obtained during this match (No saving up points via arcade mode and spending them when someone walks up to the cabinet, or using them as some sort of pay 2 win bullshit).

In addition, the game has a create a character feature, including custom movesets. There's a separate online ladder for this, where you can grind and get more new moves. Not a competitive mode, but would still be a fun mode to grab up casuals who don't want to compete seriously and would rather be creative.
