Because I'd rather have the game focus on battling Camarilla elders, uncovering the fucking Inconnu, maybe hunting down clues and knowledge about the Antediluvians, and so on, rather than just slaughter powerless humans for shits and giggles.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Tzimisce body-horror and the like, entering one's lair and finding furniture still being alive with all its nerves intact, could be neat, but if repeated too much, it just becomes over the top and you quickly become numb to something like it.

Fuck, having the chance to play as a Lasombra, explore the Abyss mysticism, choosing what Path of Enlightenment you want to go down, shit'd be fun.

Lasombra and Tzimisce tend to be more picky about who they embrace. Sure, they do the shovelhead thing as well when they need the numbers, but more often than not they tend to stalk after their potential childe for years, if not more.

As a long time fan of the series I think bloodlines was about as fond a farewell to the series as you could get. The setting seems impossibly dated now - to the point that suspending your disbelief becomes challenging.

It's interesting to look back on though - the setting that the game and books were built around came from a time when cell phones and the internet were nowhere near as ubiquitous as they are now. It's very much like looking back at a simpler time - christ much of the artwork involves shit we don't even have anymore. The contacts background in the sourcebook featured a nosferatu sitting at a desk on a rotary phone. Some of the ink drawings in the 1998 revised V:tM book were watermarked '93 by the artists that produced them.

It makes you realize how fast the world has changed in the last 30 years.

But it's just that - a product of its time. I don't think even the Camarilla could survive in modern nights. The sabbat seems comically retarded in retrospect - literally 90's edge personified like DC comic's Lobo.

Also, while still kicking around, Antediluvians pretty much directed how their Clans acted and behaved, dictated their every movement if they wanted to. Aside from Ennoia, who was all about "Go wander the world, have fun, don't forget to brush your teeth".
