I would always use Souji Seta for P4 since it sounds better but Yu has been used so much throughout Atlus stuff that it has been pretty much accepted as much as the name Tatsuya for P2.

The P1 MC is the character I feel shouldn't have a canon name the most. It might be a kind of petty reason as to why, but I feel like the fact that what happens to them in the future 'Is up to you' is the most clear-cut indicator that there really isn't a canon MC for 1.

Plus the manga does some really wacky things with Piercy as a character. I'm pretty sure the MC in it has a dead twin or some strange shit, for example.

Though I'll call him Yu while discussing the character with strangers, in my heart the P4 protagonist will always be Souji Seta.
I have a feeling that P5 will be Akira to me forever as well. If Atlus decides on a different canon name I'll probably end up calling him Joker online.

Akira is most likely going to stick since the name is a pun on Day Break and the anime was called the Daybreakers. Plus the game ends with shooting god in the face at dawn.

All official game media referred to them as P3 HERO and P4 HERO. Only spin offs made by people outside of P-Team use names which is why Arena are the only games that use the name Yu for P4.
