>start up Banished
>want to get max population into an isolationist small mountain map
>dont want to tear down and rebuild everything
>have to fully plan chunk of village before I can start building anything
>too complicated to actually visualize, so I get tired and quit
>start up Cities Skylines
>want to make a city not clogged by traffic
>don't want to sling spaghetti roads around
>have to fully plan road network and zoning before I can start building anything
>too complicated to actually visualize, so I get tired and quit
>start up Planetbase
>want to build an ideal triangular grid with dorms, canteen, oxygen generator all grouped together at a dead end
>don't want to tear down and rebuild everything
>have to fully plan layout and figure out where the first structure goes for it to fit into the available space
>too complicated to actually visualize, so I get tired and quit
SAVE ME FROM THIS HELL

those are meant to go wrong and you're supposed to do your best, after a few cities you get better
if you really want to pull your hair out because you didnt plan correctly just play Anno its much worse as far as management goes
these games get boring real quick tho

>these games get boring real quick tho
That's why I want to do it right the first time.

You should treat the city developments more organically. Build what you need where you best can. Nothing is going to be perfect and that's ok.
>>375952410
>to stupid to play city builds
kek
Stop being a perfectionist.
>>375952975
I can't. Save me.
>>375952410
I know this pain. You just gotta stop worrying and save the perfectionism for later

Seeing how cities form and naturally work around their flaws it makes them beautiful.

one of these days i'll successfully break the entry barrier to this game
about my 6th time trying to get into it in a 20 minute session before i give up
my autism just isn't strong enough
Is Planetbase good?

It's got some depth and a decent tech tree. The grid of domes is a little annoying, though. I'd try it at least.
Try Factorio. It's pretty neat.

I agree with this in the context of fitting into the landscape or one road grid clashing into another. Shit needs to be broken up or you get the grid. I feel what I want involves both to an extent, but artificially done. It's easy for the organic evolution to look like garbage.
Call it part fused-grid, part artist-organic? Regardless its rough to design without having sandbox or prebuild and copy paste or at least select and drag.
