It's one thing when you had Cinematech just playing trailers like they were music videos, it's another to see the pun-filled cringe that X-play was or that Attack of the Show bullshit they tried to pass as "gamers tv"

If anything the channel became better once they got rid of the gaming hook (yes, hook. it was never really a focus) and just made Spike TV instead.

once AOTS ended, I literally didn't give a fuck about what happened to that channel.
Checked back up on it a year later and it changed its name and the type of programming it aired. Was all this hipster shit about cooking and men's fashion.

There's a documentary about the channel somewhere on Youtube that detailed what the issues for the network were. Mainly it couldn't produce enough dosh because their good content was too scarce and they wasted a lot of money on really stupid shit like G-phoria instead of getting more shows people actually wanted to watch. The network also kind of foolishly made itself over and got lots of less technologically/gaming inclined people on their shows as well as airing too much syndicated TV to try and fill the schedule. Overall, the network couldn't draw a single dime, brother

Ehh I get what he is saying about the executive changing shows and shit, but bringing up Twitch and Youtube letsplays and saying a market there is stupid because those things are free. No one wants to pay $50 or more a month for one channel. Look at all the trouble mainstream cable channels are going through. Channels like ESPN and even the fucking Food Network are struggling. Even if the channel was consistently about games, I think the overall trajectory would have stayed the same. Games are more popular than ever but cable isn't.
