I thought this game was gonna be great from the getgo. It's basically Arkane making a Bioshock clone with some gimmicks, it's definitly gonna be good.

The hate came from the name. Prey. Arkane didn't even intend this to be a Prey game though, they were gonna call it something else. Literally some Bethesda marketting shits slapped the Prey name into it late in development so they could keep the license.

Knowing that eased a lot of my anger since I initially also thought it was a reboot and erasing 2, but Bethesda basically tried to sabotage this game by making it look like a Prey reboot. When it's actually a different series with the same name.

that's not how the simulation works. they built a giant studio around you, but there are areas where glass projects a realistic 3d world. you're running around in real space, but yea- the helicopter ride is fake, the elevators are fake, but you're still moving.

a lot of technical measures are in place so you can't discover the apartment is fake too early- you can't lean into the elevator to press the button from the outside, you cant jump up and over obstacles to places you shouldn't be in, you can't kill the woman in the hallway by throwing shit at her, but you can move shit and have it remain in the same position because the developers couldn't fix the problem
