Pay attention to your upcoming puyos, think quickly but don't rush, and really just think about how you can set things up. It's okay, I was only sorta half-joking. I actually don't care about the vagina bones (that was just to get reactions), but I do legit find the cameltoe off-putting, because I find Amite in particular (and the art style itself) really cute in an innocent way, and that kind of sexual detail just doesn't jive with Amite's character in my mind, particularly with that art style.

Looking at the original pic critically, they're actually well done. I do prefer the edited version concerning the (lack of) cameltoe do to it being Amite, but the other details were fine, and I can tell you worked hard on it, considering there's nothing wrong with the original image from a critical standpoint. Is there Puyo Puyo VS 2 equivalent for Tetris?

There is a certain balance there. Puyo's chains can result in massive walls that really push a tetris player up there really quickly, but tetris is simple enough that if you're all clearing regularly, it's pretty simple to clean up. It takes time, memory, and patience to set up puyo chains, and frankly a lot more skill than Tetris requires. However, puyo chains are easily disrupted by just a light sprinkling of garbage blocks that create a barrier that can really fuck them up, forcing them to rely on shittier smaller chains just to clear them out.

I can't personally speak for the exact level of balance at the topmost level of skill for either game, but on a surface level, for people who aren't grandmasters, yeah, that's bullshit but it's not the direct opposite either. That said, when people suddenly get fuckhuge walls of like 8-12 layers pushing them through the roof, it's easy to see why they might think puyo has an unfair advantage.

Indeed, it seems that it's balanced around Tetris being able to throw garbage quickly over the course of a match, while Puyo is able to OHKO Tetris if it manages to get its big chain off. Someone in a previous thread compared Tetris vs Puyo to "strangling a man as he is loading a gun to shoot you." Tetris kills the Puyo steadily over time, but if Puyo gets set and goes, they'll kill Tetris in one shot.

Unforunately, this balance doesn't play out as well as it does on paper. The odds seem skewed in favor of one or the other, depending on the (even) skill levels of the players.

At the very bottom levels, I'm thinking Puyo edges out. This is assuming Puyo is just matching colors and maybe getting a lucky two-chain every once in a while, vs Tetris just going for single/double line clears at most. It'll be a slog of a match either way, but Puyo is a bit less prone to damaging misdrops than Tetris, I think. It'll come down to who messes up enough to kill themselves first.

>Low-level Tetris > Low-level Puyo
If the Tetris player is capable of setting up Tetrises or B2B Tetrises consistently, they can probably keep up with garbage and beat a Puyo player that can build 3-4 chains.

>Mid-level Puyo > Mid-level Tetris
If the Puyo player is in the neighborhood of setting up 6+ chains consistently, the Tetris player won't have much of a chance just playing with Tetrises or slower T-spins. Combos might even the odds but I don't know.

>High-level Tetris > High-level Puyo
Like that webm of the Feli player, high-level Tetris just moves so fast that Puyo doesn't get a chance to set anything up. The only chance Puyo has, I think, is if they build their chains vertically so that the garbage doesn't completely wall them off, but it's still an uphill battle to get a good chain off before the Tetris player buries them.

But that's just the impressions I get from watching replays and stuff.

I had a hard time splitting Tetris skills into tiers in general. For one I don't know that much about competitive Tetris, and for two it sounds like a majority of Tetris skill comes down to the player's speed (due to a general lack of fucking your opponent over mid-game ala Puyo harassment). It's possible I don't know what I'm talking about.

This definitely isn't true. People are putting in the work but the very top players are ALSO putting in the work. They didn't get to where they are and just suddenly stop practicing.

Like 2-3 years ago Hbox was unanimously considered the worst at the very top level and now he's the second best player. I'd say the only one that has stopped putting in the work is Mango. He just keeps getting worse and worse. Honestly it seems like he doesn't even give a shit about Melee anymore or really care about doing well, he just enters because it's all he has.
