Why is it that in every current team based "competitive" game both teams consist of only 5 or 6 players. Wouldn't it be cool if someone made a "competitive" game in which both teams had atleast the double amount of players compared to this trend. 12v12 or something like that.

It's hard enough to get six people to co-operate
Balance is hard.

Hard to organize big groups, so its not worth it. Battlefield "competitive scene" is/was a thing.
4-6 is a sweet spot.
It'd be even nicer if there were more competitive 1v1 games that weren't just Fighters or RTS.

Puzzle games like tetris? Racing and sports games? What do you have in mind, competitive rpgs?
>>375890027
Wasn't the Battlefield competitive scene just only one squad vs another?

>competitive rpgs
pokemon (it's an imbalanced rng shitfest)

In Team Fortress 2 competitive it's already difficult enough to get 9 players on each team all together at the same time, because every player has a job, social life and schedule not necessarily compatible with the other team.
Trying to get 24 different young adults all in the same place for an hour and a half AND make them co-operate would be nearly impossible.

Entirely possible for normal people, but people who play vidya are pretty flaky compared to the rest of the population

>Entirely possible for normal people
Not on an irregular basis like video game matches are, anon.
Arguing with me on this is stupid, I've seen it be tried before and it barely works in TF2 Highlander for 9v9 (it's impossible to get a LAN happening), it would not work in 12v12.
It's not a matter of argument it's a fact: large team sizes are too difficult to organize in competitive video game play

>not possible
then how is it normies can play pickup sports with their friends?
If anything it's easier with videogames because you can have your team in different locations

tf2 has 9v9 competitive and everyone agrees it's a fucking shitfest for both sides.
I want one of those 50v50 battlefield games to have an esports scene. Imagine how crazy that would be.

Not to say you are wrong or anything since those are pretty valid points.
But I gotta say that I think the matches would play out much more intrestingly.
In every single game that uses 5v5 competitive format, the outcome of the game is usually decided in a matter of seconds in a team fight.
For the team which lost the team fight, rest of the game is usually accepting your fate unless the winning team fucks up baddly. Having a higher player cap would also make teamfights longer and you would need to have situation awareness at small and huge scale at the same time.

battlefield already tried that and nobody gave a fuck because it's retarded.
