I mean, I don't like Bethesda gameplay, that's the core of why I don't like Bethesda Fallout, though I do have a grudge against them for overwriting Fallout Tactics lore regarding the east coast BoS. Those two are fairly significant reasons for me to not like new Fallout, not just the act of Bethesda buying a dead in the water IP and renewing it. That's something I'd have loved to see if they had done it in a faithful manner. Actually this is a good point, i have this though same when i watch Final Fantasy Spirits Within. If beth dropped the name fallout and used something else, the backlash wouldn't be so bad. Well I'm getting downvoted anyways so I may aswell just say it. Every single of those games aside from Horizon Zero Dawn was quite poor. Zelda being the shitstain that puts the rest to shame. Breath of the Wild is one of the absolute worst games I've seen. I have no idea how adults who have played a single game before it can say they liked it with a straight face. I can't even wouldn't even begin to respect the opinion of someone who said they liked it on anything again. The music was awful, the combat mechanics were awful, the enemies had an AI that doesn't belong in a game of this decade, with very little variety in design or movesets, the puzzles were the opposite of clever. The few bosses actually REUSED models and had no substance in fights, trails were a horrible extrinsic reason to explore the world on top of just plain old sucking intrinsically. The cherry on top was Ganon. Oh my fucking god Ganon was the bit that pushed the game into embarrassingly bad territory. Those final moments where he just stands completely still attacking nothing... I literally dropped my controller, pulled out my phone and started recording for about a minute to show a couple friends just how bad it was. I stood right in front of that giant mother fucker for a good 2 minutes and didn't take a single point of damage. He just shot lazers at nothing in different directions over and over with really annoying music playing, and the utter nonsensical rambling of the living plot device princess zelda vomiting bullshit harping on and on and on about nothing in a mind numbing loop. Seriously Fuck that game. Fuck anyone who liked it... I feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing the amount of praise it gets. It makes absolutely no fucking sense. It is garbage on a tier all of its own. If you like Breath of the Wild, you have no standards to speak of.

If just "What do you think" well sure, its mediocre in terms of story and pacing, the quests is above average and some unique maps (quest) design for example like the fucking nuns killing whores is a straight linear mess, intentional or not.

Main quest from dealing individual town issues to getting cat litter as progess was okay-ish, which is the core of the game aside from it's mediocre map designs. Combat is good, could have been better if it was like fallout tactics with crouch and prone, might as well go all out with squad tactics. Also i liked the near end where one of your guys got brain controlled because he is part synth (fuck spoilers). Story wise it's abit short to be honest, kinda feel empty once beaten. Good decisions on who and which town to save though, but end result won't matter much.

Skills, well I can't remember much except knowing at the end of the game i have redundant masters of the same skill, not really the gameplay designers fault.

Boss fights was right on being non-overpowered thanks to proper squad management, not like the boss is totally unbeatable because you made some fuck ups. After failures, with right amount of insight you can win it by replanning your tactics.

Comparison to the old wasteland, it's a different animal, different graphics, different playstyle. But the concept is the same, which is roughly how fallout is done via inspiration of old + new gameplay.

I remember reading some scifi book, where after people are almost wiped out, the few smart people have trouble teaching kids regular school stuff because they can't apply that shit at all in the new world. So instead they teach them survival skills, that they remember and use. All the old world tech around them is busted, and the kids could never have gotten it to work anyway, so they scrap it for spear tips and shit.
The one kid who liked maths and what not would become elder and dumb everything down for the rest of people. The dumb dumbs would then misinterpret everything that was too advanced and there ya go. Arroyo Village pretty much.
