How can literature, paintings, music, illustration, sculpture, theater, film, etc. even compete with the Gesamtkunstwerk that is videogames?
"can't be art" my ass!
this is all wrong though, you cant describe the art of video games without actively playing them, since player agency is part of the whole. A picture wont cut it.

Gesamtkunstwerk - the all-embracing form of art. The beautiful visual design of DaSIII is only part of it, the word implies the rest. Beautiful musical design, message, and total immersion thanks to fantastically crafted combat on top of this.

That yellow piss makes my eyes hurt. Also that's video game ARTwork you idiot, not the actual game. It would be like calling a music album ART because it has a good looking cover because it looks good you collosal funposting pseudo-intellectual pretentious faggot

That screenshot may be from an angle not in the game, but the full location is in the game, with every detail that is there.

You know that's not what I mean. It does look pretty and have good music though.

I'm not sure what you mean. Environments in a game are as much a part of the "actual game" as is any other element in the game. The mix of these elements is what makes it the Gesamtkunstwerk.

This is easily one of the best looking areas in the series, shame it's only 5 mins long and hosts one of the worst bosses in the series. I still don't know why they didn't just make Vilhelm the boss there, he has dialogue and everything.

It means your filter is bad. Get better settings.

Why do these shots look so vibrant? On PS4 the game looks so much more washed out and faded than in these shots.

I agree, it could have been longer.

Some are a bit enhanced, but technically a tweak to your TV or monitor will simulate this for the most part.
