The best part of the souls series has always been level and world design and the lack of handholding with regards to story and progression, combined with fun boss fights.

It's not Ninja Gaiden or blind tetris and people who act like it is miss the entire fucking point.

Especially when there have ALWAYS been ways to trivialize every encounter. There's nothing to stop you from summoning a bunch of phantoms and turtling with a greatshield, that's not exactly the sign of a game meant to be supremely difficult.

The game is only as hard as you want it to be, casual fucks can still 100% it. Compare the amount of people who beat dark souls vs something intentionally fucking hard for the sake of being hard like Dante Must Die

The stupid fucking memeing around Dks just because death is an integrated game mechanic is tiresome and pushes away people who'd otherwise probably enjoy the series for its pacing and atmosphere.

Dying on a boss attempt, reviving at the bonfire adjacent and running back in to try again with no penalty whatsoever as many times as you want (besides 2's annoying progressive hollowing but the finito and ring of binding exist anyways) is not a punishing system and it's not supposed to be.

Buying blood vials and bullets in Bloodborne is either an unnecessary money-sink at best with no game play impact if you just spend boss echoes on them, and at worst it's an annoying break in game flow if you run out and have to farm for a bit to get more. I much prefer the Estus system and if miyazaki was worried about too many vials reducing difficulty he could've just made certain lamps give fewer vials than others
