Finally building my first mid budget pc, how does it look /v/?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MHXLxY

I tried /g/ but they all they recommended was ryzen and a weaker cpu. For gaming (60fps, 1080p, don't really need more) as well as some 3d modeling, animation, and film editing

I wouldn't want to go above $1300
>>
>>375858176
>For gaming as well as some 3d modeling, animation, and film editing
go with the ryzen
>>
That is much more than enough for 1080p 60fps. Also get rid of the adapters as well as the sound card because you mobo comes with integrated sound.
>>
>>375858369
Yeah? See the thing that confused me was the cpu was they recommended was 3.2 ghz across 6 cores, as opposed to 3.8 across 4.

What no kinda worries me is I plan to play oblivion heavily modded and it only runs on 1 core, so I thought the 3.2 would throttle it kinda badly.

Another thing is they recommend another GeForce graphics card, which I've read has a lot of problems with ryzen processors.
>>
>>375858796
Sweet, so remove the wireless and wired adapters as Well?
>>
Go with Intel if your main focus is gaming and 3d modeling, animation, and film editing are done occasionally.
Seagate drives suck balls. There is a reason they are cheap. Go for a WD.
Drop the network cards and sound card and get a 1080 instead of 1070 for future proofing.
>>
>>375858875
>3.2 ghz across 6 cores
thats the 1600 right?

I believe it can be oc'd to 3.8 easily with the stock fan
>>
>>375859478
Also forgot that the case only comes with two fans, the top and rear. Get two 140mm for the front.

I did a build with that exact case and here is my experience:
Overall, I loved the case.
- I liked the cable management.
- the power supply is kind of separated in in the bottom of the case with a window for cables to run through
- This case is about 2 inches shorter than regular mid tower cases
- because of that, I ordered a micro atx mobo instead of ATX and I'm REALLY fucking glad that I did this.

I feel like the regular ATX would have been slightly too big for easy cable management.

I also went with the 1050ti, and I play pretty much everything on high or ultra.

However, you have a better budget than I did, so I can't really suggest for you to go with something weaker so that you can save money. Are you good on your displays? Do you have a really comfy chair?

If you want to save on the processor and want to stick with intel, maybe go with the 6600k (which you can overclock) or the even cheaper 6500k (which you can't overclock).

Both of those are still skylake, so you can stick with ddr4 and the board if you want.

I am using the motherboard you picked in another build and don't have any complaints so far.

Anyway, good luck

A complete waste of money. In 3 years or so you'll want to replace your GPU either way, for 1080p gaming a 1070 will be future proof enough.

remove the Ethernet adapter, that will be built into the mobo.

If you think you need wifi, get the wifi adapter.
I didn't think I would need a wifi adapter for a desktop, but I got one just in case and I'm glad that I did. Had some issues getting a wired connection in the office because of the landlord.
Your mobo won't have built in wifi.

You also don't need the sound card, your mobo will have decent integrated sound.

When you start doing some more advanced film stuff, you'll want a better sound card (or other sound option), but you don't really need one now.

You could probably go a bit cheaper on the ram, too

Okay took in account these comments, how's it look now?

>>375859478
Ok I switched HDs, 1tb will suffice for now, I'll pick up another later

>>375859765
Shoot forgot this one
>>375860064
Yeah I'm good for now on peripherals. >>375860572
I'll go 1070

So can someone explain to me why I don't need the wired/less adapters?
>>
>>375859061
you might want to keep the wireless adapter if you plan on using wi-fi instead of an ethernet cable, since not all mobo's come with wireless integrated. not sure about the specific one you picked though
>>
>>375861051
motherboard has an ethernet port already so wired is pointless, might not have wireless like the anon above me said though.
>>
>>375861051
>So can someone explain to me why I don't need the wired/less adapters?
The mobo will have a LAN adapter integrated into it. If you are going to use wireless, you will need an adapter, but wireless sucks anyway.
>>
>>375861430
>>375861628
>>375861680
Okay great, yeah I'd preferred wired but this going to be times when I'll have to go wireless unfortunately.

One big question I forgot to ask is about the the OS. Seeing as I'm not going to have a disc drive, how do I go about installing Windows? Are usb drive versions reliable?
>>
>>375862065
you can install from USB just fine
>>
>>375862065
Why would you think that bootable USBs would be unreliable?

This is all some really basic shit man, use google, read some tutorials, use stack

As someone who is in the same position, my only OS is on a Win7 Home Disk, I'm not sure what to do myself, but Google and Stack huh?
>>
>>375862664
yeah enjoy installing your 212 evo... l. o. l.

also enjoy having your shit burn up in a day without thermal paste.
>>
>>375862703
just get win 7 dvd tool(does USB boot too) and a windows iso and install it from USB

>>375862763
212 is fucking easy to install if you install it outside of the case and even in case its just of matter of putting the case sideways and also im pretty sure all 3rd party coolers nowadays come with thermal paste syringes or shitty packets

h7 is completely overpriced, i couldn't find a single one to buy for my brothers build that was under $35 meanwhile you can find 212 evos for less than or $25.
also the performance difference is negligible, on average the h7 only performs 2c better.

>>
>>375863761
why would you not redeem the rebate? i got a $50 mail in rebate for a keyboard that i bought through newegg. even then, you can still find used evos for less than what you can find a used or new h7 for.
h7's are overpriced and overhyped.

Go with the ryzen.

The most important part of your Pc for gaming will be the Graphic card.

The ryzen 1600 is the best choice because you can easy overclock it to the x version even with stock cooler but the main point of the ryzen its awesome for editing work like video or photoshop work.

Trust me RAM and CPU dont play a that big factor in gaming.

>>375858875

>For gaming (60fps, 1080p, don't really need more) as well as some 3d modeling, animation, and film editing
That's literally why everyone said Ryzen.

The "ghz" doesn't necessary means a CPU is better or faster than other CPU with LESS GHZ, what makes it faster is the CPU architecture and a program that works well with that architecture. The only way to know which CPU is better without getting into complicated shit is looking at benchmaks, and ryzen does pretty well in 60 fps games and exceptionally well in editing software.

I found it strange as well. $1,000+ is high budget. $500 is mid. Why would someone spend money on something that is going to lose 25% value right after they buy it, and continue to go down?

I'll stick with my old core2duo Dell I got for free from work, and upgraded with a video card for $10 after black Friday rebates, and a tb HDD I got for cheap. I can play almost all games pre-2013, and some even post 2013.

>gigabit ETHERNET
wow its like the ethernet port is only for connecting to the internet
>>
>>375867016
Yeah it was a typo, but it still stands.
And yes, it's solely for the internet.
If you're transfering files over ethernet you're a fucking idiot since literally any removable media is faster than that... and you don't need a Gigabit for anything other than internet.

The only thing I've upgraded on this thing was the GPU and it was just to replace my 6850. 370 works great but I'm just so lazy now. That Phenom 965 still works.

I'm into ancient territory now. Fuck.

Are the Ryzen stock heatsinks easy to install? I thought I was going to have a heart attack installing the stock heatsink with my old Phenom one. Those things were terrible.

why? you just plop them on the cpu and connect the clips. amd is a cakewalk compared to intel pushpin shit. but any stock heatsink is pretty terrible. just get any decent 120mm tower cooler instead, there's many to choose from.
