Factually false, Gooch went on record to say that he cared a lot actually to the point that when a shitty employee refused to fix Ultima spell in NES version of FF2, Gooch himself sat down and tried to fix it but the code was such an obfuscated mess that he was forced to give up and ship the game with broken Ultima spell.
