Undertale, I suppose. Only ever watched a playthrough of it. It looked really interesting, but the fanbase completely ruined whatever draw the game had.

Undertale is actually "okay" but the game punishes you for actually thinking about it despite being a thought-provoking game. Mostly due to an inconsistent plot, shallow characters, acts like its moral is righteous even though it wasn't half realistically executed, etc.

Just laying it out like that kind of ruins the game though.
I think that a huge part of how the game works is related to how it manipulates your expectations.
If you just setup something beforehand, it's hard to slip back into the game's grasp and you would hardly be surprised by any of its more poignant moments. That's why I think the creator wanted to encourage playing the demo before the full game, because it's very good at giving a taste of what the game is about without ruining the rest of the game.

Yes, I guess you could say that the pacifist ending being a happy ending is totally just supposed to surpass my expectations instead of contradicting the whole "humans hate monsters" that was said at the beginning, middle, and right before the end. It's supposed to make me happy for these shallow characters that they didn't get the expected outcome of genocide or systematic oppression.
