I have a channel of just under 100k subs, averaging 50,000 views a video, which was about $50 when I exploded in popularity. It slowly dipped over time (by which I mean since the year started), and now from 50,000 views I often make less than $15 because of adblock. I can't imagine anyone higher up is making that much, or was, with all of this retarded shit going on, on top of the expansion of ad blockers.

I say good. Advertising as a form of revenue has always caused problems with the medium, get rid of it. Let people do what they want to do for donations. Twitch is practically the only format for game streaming and many streamers do very well without even having to resort to terrible cash grab tactics like donate X to make the game harder. They already have a system for VODs, how long until they add proper infrastructure for video uploads and steal all the gaming revenue from youtube?

I am on the older end of millennial but everyone I know would rather pay for the things they want than watch adds or pay for packages with some of the things they want. Advertising revenue is a dinosaur that promotes censorship. Above board sponsored content and donation systems are the way forward.

Use a randomizer to scramble the choices, companies submit the demographic range they want, youtubers list their demographics, and ads are randomly sent to videos based on RNG. Therefore is "OMG triggering" video is made on a subject, and some car ad is in it, the company can't be liable because they had no part in picking it

Or I don't know if they actually do this but it would completely solve any moral/legal liability issues

I would assume it's fairly easy to make algorithms that put ads in videos with a minimum threshold of views, and also costs spread out depending on views. As in 100 of your dollars go towards the ad placed in the video with 100,000 views, 1 dollar to a video with 1,000 of the exact same target demographic/ad blocker rate/length etc.
