There aren't any huge open worlds to explore or any complex gameplay mechanics beyond of what it already is. I understand that the teams are small and the budget is not huge but there still isn't enough of content and gameplay variation to justify the price.

Nah... it's a pretty large cast of characters for Tekken games.

There's a variety of stages, also cut scene and story for each character. That also involves fully voiced scenes.

The gameplay itself is pretty complex. Every character has their own unique set of attacks and combos. Also juggling attacks, dodging, blocking and more. Fight games these days are complex, not a simple button masher that you're used to.
