Will Remedy redeem themselves?

>a "brand-new game" codenamed 'Project 7' brought to consoles and PC
>P7 contains the deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy game
>"cinematic third person action game" that's set in a "Remedy-created universe

I hope so. Quantum Break was trash on every level(except graphics. It was a gorgeous game) which makes me so sad because I LOVE Remedy.

No.

codenamed project 7 eyyy...
>>
Why make a new IP when they teased fucking Alan Wake 2 so much in Quantum Break (like as soon as the fucking game starts you watch a video for AW lore).

I want fucking closure.
>>
I wish Remedy would make Dark Justice already. Third Person perspective game set in a city like NY or Chicago with physiological horror elments and puzzle solving as well. The protoganist starts perfectly normally and by the half-way point of the game he insane kinda like sh2
>>
>>375837292
Project 7 IS Alan Wake 2.
>>
>>375837062
Both Alan Wake games (although AN was just a small download game) are great.

Quantum Break, which I'm still in midst of trying to finish, is cool, but god damn theres way too much talking and videos and cutscenes and not enough letting me use the cool powers they give you.

And as another anon said, QB is a beautiful game.

>Will have near-identical gameplay to everything else in the genre and feature photo-realistic visuals

Why do people care about new IP when the game itself is the same fucking tired shit we've had for a decade? This is why gameplay is stagnating, all people care about is fucking story.
>>
>faggots complaining about cinematic
>implying Max Payne 1/2/Alan Wake weren't cinematic
>>
>cinematic

My guess is no. After Quantum Break being literally a TV show video game tie in, I have my doubts that the studio will ever get back on its feet.

They could do so much more with Alan Wake with modern lighting tech. Even more if they would move to first-person, but it would definitely become more of a straight horror game if they did that.
>>
They are also doing an IPO
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-04-27-remedy-entertainment-is-planning-an-ipo

Not sure what it all means.

I'm just playing through Alan Wake again after years, and I don't remember clearly how it ends, but wasn't it closed up fairly well?
Like the diner girl becoming the new lightkeeper and whatnot.

I mean I can see a game in the same universe happen but not with the same characters, if this makes any sense.

It's not a lake. IT'S AN OCEAN'
>>
>>375836813

The head writer of Remedy has gone full SJW. And the quality of writing dropped simultaneously.
>>
If you didn't play the DLC epilogues for Alan Wake, and play American Nightmare after then you are in for a treat.

The game definitely did NOT end all nice and tidy with a bow. I won't spoil anything if you haven't played the DLC/American Nightmare. But no, there is a lot left open.
>>
>>375837062
I really liked Alan Wake. It's amazing how good writing and an engaging story can at least partly alleviate mediocre gameplay. If it could properly decide between survival horror and tps, it would be absolute GOAT.
>>
>>375837864
"cinematic" is a buzzword like autistic now.
>>
>>375838673
I personally loved the gameplay. I get that it's a little rough and some people might not like it, but I found it engaging and MAN did American Nightmare make it even better with the addition of so many guns (I wanna replay Alan Wake a lot but I remember theres only like 4 guns compared to American Nightmare) and the Arcade mode.
>>
>>375837995
They will list on public stock market and change their business model (more frequent releases, multiple games in development simultaneously)
>>
>>375838490
No? Quantum Break was bad because it was boring, cliche, and wanted to be a TV show. There was no SJW shit in it at all.
>>
>>375836813
Microsoft and Finnish companies don't mix. I don't know what they have against us.
>>
>>375836615
>Cinematic

Why is Remedy so fucking obsessed with movies and tv shows? They keep pushing this hybrid that always fails.
>>
>>375839017
Because Sam Lake. He's a bigger filmophile than Kojima.
>>
>>375838919
But will the founders leave. Is this their exit?
>>
Max Payne - Bad
Max Payne 2 - Good
Alan Wake - Bad
Quantum Break - Bad

Remedy was never good.

>>
>>375836971
I don't know if you're just dumb or never actually played Max Payne 1/2, but those games are insanely cinematic, they're also really fun games and it works very well. I don't want to throw around insults, so let me just recommend playing those games. They have some dated elements, 1 especially, but they're worth it.
>>
>>375839017
Max Payne games were literally 'heroic bloodshed' simulators.
>>
>>375838189
Yup, I had the same thought. It seems like midtier devs and publishers are making a comeback. Been following THQNordic for a while, they have a lot of enthusiasm and passion missing from AAA publishers.

And I hope Remedy can make a grand comeback.

oh wow, a AAA cinematic 3rd-person action game.
always love to see devs taking risks and doing something unique and special.
can't wait!
>>
>>375839162
Alan Wake was okay, and Quantum Break looks like it could've been good. They can make good games but they need to cut the needless crap out.

>>
>>375836813
Damn, I missed it when it was $1.
>>
>>375839351
Maybe Quantum Break humbled them and they're going to make a solid action game.
>>
IT'S PAYNE IN THE BUTT
>>
>>375839054
He's more of a writefag. Kojima is obsessed with directing.
>>
>>375836615

>not an alan wake sequel

Good to know they're admitting Alan Wake was a boring, hipster-pandering pile of delayed shit.
>>
>>375839003
Alan Wake was an Xbox exclusive published by Microsoft
>>
>>375839651
It just didn't become a big enough IP to warrant sequals, also it's owned by Microsoft and I don't think they want to be working with Remedy from now on.
>>
>>375838967

Yeah but around the same time Quantum Break was in development, the lead writer and the other head honcho of Remedy Mikko Rautalahti started befriending SJWs and his twitter feed is nowadays full of anger towards those evil white hetero men.

He drank the kool-aid and hard. And when you got a person like that in such a high place in the company, odds are the next project they're going to make is going to be a disaster.
>>
Only if it's more like Max Payne then Alan Wake.
>>
>>375837054

Max Payne is cinematic as hell. I mean ffs, remember those mini-cutscenes which play as last dude in a battle dies? Remember shooting the sniper rifle?
>>
>>375840958
Nostalgia. MP1 had good ideas and bad execution, making it overall not very good. MP2 fixed the problems.

I know "cinematic" has become a dirty word (and for good reason), but it's not inherently bad, or even Anathema to the idea of an action heavy game.

Clumsy movement, bad bossfights and platforming sections, poor damage system. The difficulty was all over the place, savescumming was practically a necessity.

Stop holding old games to modern standards. You will enjoy them more that way.
