I hated Atlantica on my first playthrough, but now it's one of my favourite worlds. Get the Examinator from Merlin and equip all +MP accessoires and just blast everything with Fira. Most things die in 1-2 hits and give you enough MP orbs to constantly be using your magic.
Even Giant Ursula became a lot easier once I simply fira'd her to death instead of using the shitty standard underwater keyblade attacks.

I love staff playthroughs too, where I kill everything with magic, but I still delay Atlantica and only do it after I've finished Halloween Town and Neverland
usually gets my one or two more MP and a few more defence, to ensure that Atlantica is a cakewalk
