Wasn't a fan of the linear but I do wish FF would bring back that battle system. Proper turn-based is so much better than ATB or poor man's Kingdom Hearts.

I just had the pokemon collecting, I hate Noel, I hate the wacky timetravelling story, and I dislike the general feel of the game.

And before you ask, I think LR is better because it actually has fantastic combat and music and gets by on that alone.

I normally hate the trend of party based RPGs throwing away the tactics part and becoming action-RPGs, but the combat system in LR was awesome.

How far did you get?
The combat is awful at start before you get paradigms and abilities other than Attack, but after the trash heap area it starts to get together and becomes reasonably fun.

If you really can't take it, watch the movie version on youtube with cutscenes only, if it wasn't DMCA'd yet. Would be shame to miss out on the great sequels.

I stopped last year. Last I remember, I just beat Cid.

I'll probably watch the cutscenes up to the spot I stopped playing and try again this Friday.
