Good music, good gameplay, good power ups. I never understood the story because maybe i never cared for it. Some spooky levels. I played this game for first time when i was around 10, loved it. Now i got it for my vita and beat it once a year or so.

Its a good game but not everyone will appreciate it.

It's a mix of a puzzle game and a platformer. You basically go around, collect shit that you need to unlock other shit where you collect more shit to unlock other shit and then you sometimes fight enemies and jump around.

It's worth checking out if you're into speedrunning.

There's literally like 3 tracks in the whole game. I pulled my hair out trying to play the game back then; you have to listen to that ANNOYING 45 second loop of 'calm talking to people' music for like 45 minutes straight when the game starts.

The first Tomba has way better music

Tomba's sister is kidnapped by evil pigs (like the one in the first game), Tomba goes around the world helping people and finding sacks to seal the pigs with, Tomba seals pigs and rescue his sister.
Also the minecart track was the true villain the whole time

I'd honestly say the first game was better than the second. 2's 3D gimmick really doesn't add much to the game, and it makes the worlds more confusing to navigate imo. The voice acting is also pretty garbage, and most of the worlds are generic.

I liked that there were more pigs to find in general, not to mention the 2D artstyle of the first game feels better in some areas. My only real complaint is how it takes awhile to learn how to properly use the grapple, especially since it's in that one area with a bunch of bottomless pits.

Though I don't think I'll ever 100% both games unless I strictly follow a guide. Trying to figure out all of them and do all the challenges was a lot harder than I expected. I at least made sure to get most of them.

In your defence there's one or two quests in the first one which you can perma lock yourself out of completely by accident.

The whole mountain and fire mine area in the first game is probably the only area I'd say really need tweaks. It's way too big of a difficulty spike, especially with that super precise jump you have to make in the mountain with all the wind. Ended up using a guide to almost-100% the game because I didn't want to go wandering around talking to everyone.
