It's hard to answer without knowing your tastes or what games you've already played. I feel that Disgaea 3+4 is at home on a handheld and absolutely worth checking out, but you might've already played them on console or have no interest in the series. There's also Tales of Hearts R but you might not enjoy the lack of a dub or JRPGs in general.

Don't buy a Vita. Get PlayStation TV and a Duelshock 4 instead. The thin Vita is complete ass for games with precise input because of how light it is.

Check out Soul Sacrifice Delta, Disgaea 4, Killzone Mercenary, Persona, Ninja Gaiden(Just don't get sigma 2, awful performance), Trails of Cold Steel, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Dungeon Travelers 2(Solid Drpg probably the best one on the vita if you don't mind the animu artstyle), Gravity Rush, Summon Night 6(Comes out this month).
