I hate that we didn't get the original game, but I actually think the minions poisoned this more than people remember. The minigame collections were actually well put together and at least the first game has the Rabbids as definite antagonists. I don't know why they went that route in the end, but some of the later games had pretty good homages and stuff (Shooting the chickens who are ruining the night of the living dead shoot by the rabbids for one.)

I think that if they were a separate IP that didn't initially piggyback off of Rayman and stunt that IP for years, people would remember them more fondly.
