Are gaming mice a meme?

Do they make any difference? Or are they placebos made to rip people off?
>>
>>375804635
yes
>>
>>375804635
I just buy depending on how many buttons I want to use.
>>
As someone who switched to an old Dell optical from a steelseries . No they aren't
>>
there are things like angle snapping and lift off that you will notice on a cheap mouse. for most people dpi has diminishing returns beyond 3000 or so, but people who play super twitchy fps games 20 hours a day will notice low dpi and inaccurate tracking.

all in all there's hasn't been a real innovation since the advent of thumb buttons and ball-less sensors which is why most gaming mice are covered with leds and are designed to look like a transformer. it gives you the illusion of having something fancy which is ironic because gaming mice especially have really poor build quality resulting in defects like "squishy" clicks, registering a single click as a double click, and just overall poor construction quality which is why mice like the mx518 and intellimouse are remembered fondly for being non nonsense, quality mice that lasted for eons.
>>
>>375804635
A good optical sensor isn't.
Retarded shapes and buttons are.
>>
>>375804635
No, but it's NOTHING like the difference between a $5 KB+M and a controller. It will help you but won't be a massive difference.
>>
>>375806296
I actually find added buttons super useful. I have the primary buttons set to action/primary/secondary fire, M4 for melee, M5 for voice chat, and switch up the other two based on the game

I own a wireless gaming mouse - G900.
Best mouse I've ever had.
Ask me anything.
>>
>>375806604
I do the same, I was mostly referring to cellphone monstrousities.
Back and forward buttons are fairly standard.
>>
>>375804635
I use a naga. I could never go back to gaming without it.
>>
I use a Zowie EC2-A. No need for driver software to adjust between 4 DPI settings, the shape is nice, and the actuation on the buttons is great. Overall I have been satisfied

I use the G303, I like the size and simplicity of it the most
>>
Once you go RedDragon, you never go back.
>>
>>375804635
you can go for a nice mouse just do yourself a favor and go cordless
>>
They won't make you better at games.
That's not why you buy them. A nice car won't make you a better driver, but thst doesn't mean you should drive a beaten to shits 1990 Honda civic.
I think a lot of them are worth it. I jist got a NAOS 7000 it is comfy as fuck amd movement is fairly smooth. I find side buttons also really helpful.
>>
>>375807386

>The AA battery jew

No thanks
>>
>>375806296
>ergonomics and usbable buttons don't matter
>the placebo effect sensor does matter.
Lmaoing at the retard.
Buy the most comfortable mousr you can, or one with as many buttons as you need.
>>
>>375807386
I don't really get the point. You gain nothing from it. I mean like a laptop mousr obviously go cordless but it makes no difference on your desk. Likewise with a keyboard.

My gaming mouse just died. It was a Sharkoon Drakonia, and I loved it. I can re-buy at 35 euros, but I was wondering if there was something similar for less.
I just need something that has a similar button placement
>>
>>375807442
>using two AA batteries every 8 months, like less than two bucks a year
>probably the only appliance that you have that will still use batteries
this isn't the 90s anon, you can own batteries without them being a bother now
>>
Grip style matters. Claw for FPS, ergonomic otherwise. Also variable DPI. ~800 best for FPS
>>
>>375807550
I switch from my desktop to my laptop a lot and use the same mouse for both, it's easier with a wireless one then it would be with a cord

Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 seem to be the furthest most games go. But they never pick up the side buttons on a logitech.

Also who the fuck keeps the dpi buttons as they are? I always rebind them to something else.
>>
>>375807442
Most mice aren't AA. But i wish more shit was. Rechargeable is annoying as fuck. I can buy a huge box of AA batteries from costco for hardly anything and never have to charge. Like, my xbone controller lasts a long as time, then when it dies just swap em out quick. Meanwhile my fucking ds4 barely lasts a persona session and my wii u pad even shorter. I have to grab the cord and sit there while it fucking charges or have two controllers and swap em out. And the battery fucking loses capacity over time to. A mouse is even worse. What's the point of wireless if you have to carry a charging cable with you.

I miss the AA jew.
>>
>>375807824

What, just use a cellphone charger next to you while you play, have your DS4 plugged into that and it charges while playing.
>>
>>375806643
Have you ever tasted your own cum?
>>
>>375807442
Just buy good batteries or chargeable ones. Some mouses are really energy efficient, my current one runs on the same single battery for more than half a year now and I haven't changed or recharged it since.
>>375807550
I mean, two less cables tangling on and behind your desk is always nice.
>>
>>375807701

thanks, will check them out
>>
>>375807651
Fair enough. My laptop has a touch screen and i don't game on it so my mousr never leaves my desk.
>>375807919
I mean you should cable manage anyway.
>>
just get that steelseries rival, got me to global.
>>
>>375807893
There is no unusued socket where i sit. Amd it's ugly to leave the cord plugged in. Gotta get it out everytime. I suppose i could just buy a really long cord but meh. But usually just charge one under my desk and swap em out. Still annoying. At leadt give me the option like xbox does.

Why did they stop making these?
Rarely do I find a mouse that doesn't feel like an egg in your hand, this was actually a great ergonomic design, yet I don't see many other mice that resembles it.
>>
Ive had my razer deathadder 3.5g since 2012 and the only thing thats damaged on it is the braiding on the usb cable
>>
>>375807567
I bought that same mouse for 15-20 euros, wtf?
>>
I wish mionix revised the NAOS to uabe a more sweatproof material.
>>375808186
What did you like about it? I can probably find something similar
>>
>>375808186
>a mouse for mice
>>
>>375804635
Depends on the game, I find mice with buttons on the side really useful for games like mmos.
>>
>>375808226

It's just the price that changes over the time and the place. Here in italy has 25-35
>>
>>375807916
Yes
>>
>>375804635
>bought a "gaming mice"
>it had 2cm liftoff
never again
>>
>>375808186
Look at the cooler master mice
>>
Are any of the entry-level gaming mouse worth it? I'm not a good gamer by any shot, just have an old laptop with CS, Mobas, light gaming, currently use a non-gaming mouse (Logitech m545) and wondering if something like a G300s is an upgrade or would I have to go up to like G303 to see a difference?
>>
>>375804635
You don't really need"a gaming mouse to play games. You could get by perfectly fine with a stock one, but they're definitely nicer to have because they have extra buttons, comfier shapes, etc.
>>
Of course they are a meme. How many people who bought them are top 10 players in some video game?
>>
>>375808186
there is nothing else
you'll have to plop down the $300 for new old stock if you can't figure out how to repair your own

the only reason i can think of that logitech refuses to make a successor is that it's bad business to provide a perfect mouse that will last people for 10 years without them even THINKING of trying another product by the same company due to hopes of holding out for a successor

>What did you like about it?
The broad design, usually mice have this retarded design where it's way too narrow for your hand which results in your hand getting all cramped trying to click buttons etc.

>>375808543
Not too interrested in CM-stuff anymore, got their headset and it seems to have no online support - can't find the driver-disks anymore and can't find a place to download them either.

So now my headset has this weird static noise that kicks in everytime the microphone picks up the slightest of noise.
>>
>better accuracy
>better ergonomics
>more features like thumb buttons
No they're pretty cool
>>
>>375808660
What the fuck kind of argument is that
>are running shoes a meme?
>of course they are, how many people who bought them are olympic sprinters?
>>
>>375808660
Literally all of them
>>
>>375808660
Don't think I've ever seen a "pro-gamer" win anything with a standard office-mouse.
>>
>>375808724
Check out the NAOS lineup from mionix i wqs just complaining about. It's really wide and and has an indent for both your pinkey finger and ring fingers.
>>
>>375804635
Yes, a mouse with a decent sensor is mandatory for shooters and other games requiring a lot of precision tracking.
>>
>>375808795

They look broad enough, but they seem to all have that dreaded slope that's also a pain in the ass for prolonged usage.

Maybe I'm just fucked when my g9x dies. ;_;
>>
>>375809373
Your question is nonsensical
>>
>>375809373
About 10 per videogame.
>>375809419
Yeap they do have the slope. Can't think of anything that meets both criteria off the top of my head
>>
>>375809372
This.

And they're more sturdier too. Cheap mices usually don't have many clicks within a few years. With a gaming mouse, for an example, have usually a million clicks that it can withstand within it's life time.
>>
>>375804635
for higher resolution monitors and fast paced shooters gaming mice are pretty cool they also have some nice features you may like or more quality parts.

>>375804756
this
I also just look for nice buttons and shapes atm
but its not necessary. I'm pretty fine with my backup mx400 since my sensai after 3-4 years finaly showed its age. buttons got kind of mushy.

>quality parts you actualy use a lot are never a meme.
>>
>>375809679
Indeed, And how many people bought those shitty things? 10 million? 10 out of those 10 million people can truly use them to their full potential. You are niggers. You are slaves of the jews. BUY IT GOYIM! IT'S GOOD FOR YA!

Why is this board so fucking stupid
>>
>>375807490
There's a difference between ergonomics and retarded overdesigned mice
>sensors are placebo
This is how I know you're a casual that has never used a proper mouse
>>
>>375809897
Keep in mind you're probably talking to an underage b& - or autistic manchild.
Take your pick.
>>
500 DPI is patrician tier
>>
Lol silly goyim fell for the gaming mouse mean
>alt tabs back to his turn based strategy game
>>
>>375809980
Nah. I mean a shit $10 mousr sure
But if i gave you 10 random optical mice from the $50~+ range you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between the sensors.
>>
>>375809980
to be fair theres those people we all know them that go from like a 10000 dpi to a 15000 dpi mouse with rgb because they think it will make a huge difference.

this is the kind of stuff that makes ppl laugh
>>
>>375810074
doesn't even work well with modern resolution and games
>>
>>375810252
Anything above 3000dpi is useless, it's the sensor tracking/polling rate that matters after that.
>>
people who buy gaming mice are gay
>>
>>375810376
for 4k displays or up 3000+ could be usable for some people but I'm using something around 2000 most of the time and I use a 1080p monitor

No, cheap mice almost always have ingrained mouse acceleration. Having an accurate sensor, ergonomic shape, and low latency is important in FPS' but having said that there are still shitty overpriced mice marketed as gaming mice
>>
>>375804635
Quality thread
>>
>>375804635
If you do casual gaming then any mouse is fine. I even use a wireless and it doesn't matter. It's mostly important if you you're hardcore into FPS games.
>>
>>375810242
the sonsers might even be the same but quality of buttons drivers and how much you like the layout varys.

you still have to read reviews and look what parts they are using.

>>
>>375805152
>but people who play super twitchy fps games 20 hours a day will notice low dpi and inaccurate tracking.
Even pro players almost all use 400 or 800 dpi. DPI beyond that is literally a meme unless you have no space for your mouse.
