Yes, the difference is if you're defending you get to choose what range the fight starts at. An AWP is really good for defending a bomb site, but you'll often see CT players dump it for a rifle if they have to go on the offensive and re-take the site. A shotgun is really good for ambushing people at close range and getting lotsa dosh but if you're using it to attack and the defenders are holed up way across the room then it's suddenly next to worthless.

Sniper rifles of any kind always felt out of place in CS. They work on some maps, but the majority of maps are based on close quarters and tight corridors.

That isn't to say that an awp or scout is at a disadvantage on these maps, if anything, it's the opposite. Siege is honestly my favorite game for dealing with shitty teammates just because of how punishing it is to them and how little it really effects your team. New players that don't have voice on and ignore chat and are assholes are just so great since normally everyone in siege is nice and you give callouts and tips and suggestions on what to do. No, because there is still no anti-cheat improvements whatsoever.
Other games use 2 or even 3 solutions.

CS:GO relies on VAC that has never worked and banned only shit-tier public cheats that no pro would ever use.

- There was some news about Valve trying to build a system based on machine-learning and whatnot that would detect cheats/cheating behavior... but it was only a news. Who knows how long it will take.
- NCSoft uses similar machine learning techniques to spot bots and RMA sellers, and they have a 90% hit rate so it works, but in an FPS game it's a hellova lot more expensive and harder to build this and analyze everyone.
- Some dudes just have inhumane aim skills. My friend, he was drunk, and he obliterated me with one shots accross the aim map. How could a system differentiate between that, aimlocks, and ESP and such? I don't know. Because the problem in FPS games that it's not always "machine behavior". ESP and wallhack already a huge fucking help, and a pro learns to play with them. (e.g.: their behavior doesn't change.)

Auto is good at CT side where you can outright lock some sites with one (B site on d2) and not very good at T side, where you're supposed to be more mobile and aggressive. I generally try not to teamkill but as someone who mostly plays on-site defenders I get really sick of kids picking 4 roamers and then absolutely destroying the fucking objective room leaving the on-site defender shit out of luck.

I also have been teamkilled for asking a Blackbeard to come revive me after I was DBNO'd but totally safe behind hard cover. He kept trying to peek the window the Jager had spawnpeeked from, even way after it was pretty obvious the Jager left.

Prime matchmaking is basically just phone verification.

ESEA was kinda like that even before esports got big though, wasn't it? I swear to God, it's basically a coinflip on there whether you get a team full of chill people who just wanna have fun and work on their own game or people who will flip their fucking shit and get salty as all hell over the slightest mistakes or if they're down in rounds.

Because they're better than almost every other shooter out there. It's just both harder to tell if you actually missed or hit and it's easy to see other examples of bad hitreg because the playerbase is 10x bigger than any other shooter.

The auto has a cost opportunity attached to it that makes it unviable for a purchase. It is more expensive than an awp and performs worse generally. Killing you when you are so far ahead will drill into your thick skull that you won't use it in the future.
