It rides a line between two genres, a MOBA-style hero arena that gated most of it's content behind a PvE campaign. At launch only 5 of the 25 heroes were unlocked so you had to grind or do achievements to unlock heroes

That and the fact that the playerbase was split between so many different game modes and platforms, along with 40-60 minute matches created huge matchmaking queues. Thus a game type that was entirely dependent on a vibrant multiplayer community was DOA

Ironically the game itself is pretty good, just sabotaged by some bad design decisions. Call of Duty's multiplayer can survive with just 300 players because the matches only take 10 minutes, whereas MOBAs are F2P specifcally because they need a huge playerbase to keep queue times down

Also it heavily sold itself on lore and heroes that were just genuinely unappealing and too convoluted for their own good. You can compare the character designs between Battleborn and Overwatch for a study on the dos and do-nots of design

Overwatch quotes are the same thing.
Every time I played Overwatch I disabled the in game sound because it is so cringe and awkward, as if some random reddit moderator of /r/meme made all this shit.

Played Battleborn and Overwatch and I can't see any difference between those games, except Overwatch has much less content.

The art style is the same in both games. Both have some Anime/Cartoon like Design and both look like they target kids, children, and nu-males. Inb4 some "art" student wants to tell me differences. There are non. Go away with your useless degree.

The gameplay is not really so different. Overwatch has added some bigger maps and gave some heroes more skills and abilities to use the bigger maps, but that's it.

Both games are mediocre. If you ask yourself what game you should play: non of them. If you are a WoW addict, you will enjoy wow more than Overwatch, even as Blizzdrone.
If you like Borderlands 2, then play Borderlands 2.

It still surprises me that Battleborn bombed as hard as it did. I was one of the people who got shat on pretty hard by the whole A:CM thing and I thought everyone would take that experience onboard the way I did. But everyone still trusted Gearbox and continued to buy their games.

I'd like to say karma is responsible for Battleborn's bomb, but Blizzard is the true hero. I bought Overwatch just to support Gearbox's competitor. I don't even like Overwatch, haven't played it since the week it came out, but I still love it for existing and crushing Randy's hopes and ego.

Randy earned all this shit after ruining the chances of a great Alien Marine game by putting all the money into a ok sequel to Borderlands, and then dumping the rest to a bunch of no-body developers, lying about the progress of it and how it is.
