Played Nep Rebirth 1, it sucked. Characters learn new moves at a glacial pace. You can't win with strategy, only grinding.

The Last Remnant is pretty well-regarded on /v/.

Trails in the Sky is great. It's a really moving and comfy experience.

Yes, but there's an autistic amount of dialogue so it scares a ton of people off. Each Trails game on their own has more dialogue than the entire LoTR trilogy. Multiply that amount of dialogue by 7 (since there's currently 7 games) and it's quite intimidating to get into.

Start with Trails in the Sky, it's the beginning of the Trails Series. You can completely ignore everything before Trails in the Sky because it's not connected in any way and never really came out in English.
Trails in the Sky 1-3 are one story
Trails to Zero/Azure are another story (though they haven't been localized, but it's likely they will)
Trails of Cold Steel 1-3 are another story too
The three subseries all take place in the same world and in the same 1-3 year timespan but in different locations of the continent with different characters. The stories overlap but they don't really directly connect to eachother so you won't really feel lost if you start with Cold Steel.

The translations are so bad/engrish that it might as well not be English. Half of the time spent playing those games will be spent wondering what the fuck they're saying.

They're not worth playing because they were translated by a machine.

Also we only got the garbage PSP remasters instead of the original PC versions.
the PSP versions dumbed down the combat, removed a shit ton of dialogue, and butchered the music.

I hear they're great games if you understand Japanese and can get your hands on the originals though.
