Because the lore of the witcher games was consistent with an established series of novels and short stories which feature good characterization and an interesting setting. The games where also pretty good at telling a new story while staying true to the source material.

Whereas dragon age is just generic "ancient evil has awoken" fantasy trash, with a unoriginal lore ripped off left and right from other sources and meme characters which where just generic fantasy tropes in the first game and turned into plain shitty SJW pandering tools from the second onward.
