Only real argument is that some of their games are Bayonetta'likes, and that's mostly because they reuse assets to save money and time. Even then you have games like Metal Gear Rising, who even though it reuses work from Bayonetta clearly has a its own twists on the formula.

See, here's the difference though, Musous are fucking ass, while DMC'likes aren't. Even going from something like DMC to Bayonetta is a massive difference if you're invested in the genre, because much like fighting games even minor twists can change a whole lot.

How come all Platinum games always have some terrible QOL issues?

I mean, the gameplay is clearly on the top of almost every genre they do (Vanquish is possibly the best 3rd person shooter on the PS3/360 gameplay wise), but I can't stand their games, they look almost all like empty grey factory halls, they have almost no variety, I couldn't finish Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising because I was so bored to see the same grey areas over and over again. Nier Automata looks the same, it get high scores, but looks like an empty factory hall in every level.
