9S has a better melee moveset than both 2B and A2 though. You don't even have to use his hacking. Literally the only thing A2 has over him is berserk mode.

Only reason I'm bummed about 9S. His combat is just not as good. The idea of slipping into a shmup sorta thing mid fight is neat, but so far I've found a super disappointing lack of variety in the hacking scenes (I am early into 9S' story so this could be subject to change). Also with only one weapon 9S' melee combat feels pretty weak

Having to play a lot of the game as an inferior moveset. AND having to play at least 2/3rds of the game with a partner that fucks with the flow of the platinum style combat knocks this game down a bit for me but I'm still really enjoying it.

9S does have the worst combat, but I added switching weapons mid combo to add some variety to his gameplay. Switching will reset your combo, like being on 4th strike of your small sword and switching to spear will put you on the first strike of the spear combo. You can extend your combos indefinitely this way.

Depends on personal preferences. This is probably the longest game that Platinum has worked on because of the RPG elements. I got about 17 hours from the first playthrough. And from what I've seen of the second it's been drastically different enough to warrant continuing (Different character who plays different, gameplay segments are changed, story expansion. So you're looking at about 18ish hours for your first playthrough and subsequently shorter playthroughs each time around most likely, on account of the fact you're just more familiar with the game.
