Metal gear solid 4 is shit, I like metal gear solid 2 because of the gameplay and depth to it. The story being pure kino is also good, and the set pieces and ideas it brought into the gameworld is amazing.

Metal gear solid 1 on my ranking list is at the same level of metal gear solid 2, but metal gear solid 2 means something more to me since It was the first game I played to completion.

I think it definetly affected by taste. For the longest time I considered any game that wasn't a 3rd person level based platformer "weird", if a game was first person, or open world, or you couldn't jump etc... I considered it a gimmick and not a normal video game.
