I am, like, the hardest-core DOTA 2 player. I've hated every single other MOBA, but I've been with DOTA 2 since the beta, and I've got almost 3000 hours on record.

This game...actually isn't terrible.

I feel like it's a Mario Kart-ening of the genre, keeping the basic tenants, but sanding off some of the sharper edges, which is perfectly alright by me.

but what makes hots good? It's hard for one skilled player to carry a game because experience is shared between all players. So your team all levels up at once, and your hero gets talents at levels 1,4,7,10(ult),13,16, and 20. So your team will have power spikes at these levels and they can help you come back, say the other team is level 15 and you're 12, getting level 13 will put you on the same talent tier.
i would say the hardest thing for new players is learning how to draft, as one bad pick can really screw your team over, so you really have to know about which abilities can interrupt others, who has spell armor or blinds etc.

I played a lot of league of legends, and I am playing HoTS because LoL gets boring as fuck after 1k hours of the same shit. (Lane Phase > wandering around as a team phase > whoever fucks up in the team fight loses game phase > etc) Hots isn't a good game, but I do find it fun to play a new game once in a while.

HotS is one of the better MOBAs I've played, the map variety keeps it somewhat interesting, and heroes seem like they can actually do things. I used to play League with friends and that was utter shit. The only MOBA I've played that's better is Paragon, and that's only because it's more of a shooter.
