>Leitmotif - a recurrent theme throughout a musical or literary composition, associated with a particular person, idea, or situation.
Post your favorite examples of a leitmotif in a game.
I'll go with an easy one. Live and Learn's riff is everywhere in SA2.

And the coolest one is probably in the biolizard fight

And it still wouldn't surprise me if I'm missing 1-2 songs that still have a live and learn influence

Both Legends and Origins use it really well, their sound tracks are greatly underrated all around.

>just call it the definition of the word instead of using the word that was created to represent that definition when speaking to one another specifically so you would be able to speak a single word instead of having to give the entire definition every time
bump
I'm interested
I knowUndertaledoes this

total annihilation and supreme commander both do this a lot too
like the same melody is in like 7 of the songs from there
its 2am and im posting from my bed and im about to sleep but trust me they're some of the best orchestral soundtracks ever, if you're still a pleb that likes orchestral shit
TA was the first game to use a LIVE orchestra, btw.

fuck off
Super Mario 64
Jesus Christ none of you know what a fucking Leitmotif is
You probably think fucking Undertale had them, even
Fuck off you fucking underage teenage fucks I fucking hate you faggots abusing specific Wagnerian terminology
Treasure of the Rudras did this pretty well. Using a character's theme for the world map and boss theme. This is Surlent's example.

You saying it doesn't? Nigga most of the soundtracks were different leitmotifs used over and over.
Can we make this a general character-theme thread?

So is it like Super Mario World or Super Mario Sunshine where you can hear the same tune arranged in most of the songs?
Zelda has leitmotifs span across entire games.
one of the things undertale did right was the ost, especially when it came to this
If this gay-ass musical term means what i think it does Banjo Kazooie does it very obviously and effectively

pretty much yes
Sonic Adventure 2 is mediocre at best.
I've always had an idea for an animation/animated novel that included different character's scenes including their own specific instruments.
Like, one person represents drums and another horns and the two would mesh if they had a scene together. I know Pokemon B/W does this, anyone know of some games that do?

Mother 4 is supposed to do this with the level up theme.

I like the second half of Breath of the Wild's main theme, especially when Kass plays it or you activate a Sheikah Tower.
BUILD THAT WALL AND BUILD IT STRONG
Not even shitposting. Breath of the Wild's Hyrule Castle theme is a gem that uses melodys from the older zelda games. It's so fucking good.
