P4 was nice

Started with 4 a few months ago, went to 3 after, and then 5.

I started with Innocent Sin since I hated 1's first person perspective in dungeons and it looked like ass. I went back and played it later and its actually a good game too, if you play it on emulator and fast forward those long ass random encounters

2.After seeing a lot of Persona threads on /v/ I decided to give them a try.I googled the first Persona and I didn't like it at all so I started with Eternal Punishment.

Played a bit of P3P on PSP but not enough for it to be considered my first.
I fell hard for P4 on my Vita though.

P4G for me.

Unironically Innocent Sin, but only because I wanted to try 3, but didn't have a PS2 at the time so I emulated the closest thing. I ended up enjoying the story, but felt the gameplay was tedious and sadistic at times.

Persona 1 on the psp, bought all of them as a package and began this disgusting journey.

My first SMT was DDS though.

I bought a PS2 slim and I came to /v/ asking if I should get Xenosaga or Persona 3 Fes. I got Persona 3: FES but I didn't know what to expect accept you would probably like it if you like anime. Which I did at the time but not as much anymore. It turned out to be one of my favorite games. From then on I bought all the SMT games I could find for PS2 then I started playing other Atlus games on SNES and DS and Persona 2 on PS1.

Started with P3P, I think it was 8/10 for me than P4G and P5 both 10/10.

Thankfully i knew that the game wasn't just cliker and pointer like the PSP version because i saw the PS2 version of my friend, and the lack of cutscene and 3D kinda ruined my experience.

A friend of mine bought a Virtual Boy and about half of the games to ever come out on it. One of those games was Jack Bros.

I didn't even realize it was a spin-off of a bigger series until years later when I was hanging out with that same friend and watched him play Nocturne for awhile and saw Jack Frost and made the connection.

For a first experience it's really not that good, but i appreciated the FemMC route and the small additional challenge, this gave the game a good replayability.
So the P3P is better for fan of P3 that already beat the PS2 version.

Also played P2IS, but didn't like it that much 7/10.
I don't know if anyone played the PSP version but i found the translation quite weird, and i had issue really being captivated by the story.

1 Revelations, I had no idea about the rest of the series even though at this point 4 was out.
It just seemed like a quirky PS1 JRPG with a contemporary setting; I never saw anything like that before and fell in love. Then the SMT addiction flowed after I discovered Persona 3 and beyond.

We've come a long way. Back then I loved it because I never played something quite like it. It was nuts to me that you could talk to all party members in almost every last location, they always had something to say. It's not a straightforward turn based rpg. Most people started with P3, a more traditional rpg when it comes to battle. Going back, they didn't expect characters that could use more than one persona, they probably didn't expect demon negotiation.

Slow gameplay, for the most-part. The speed-up key on your emulator should largely solve that issue. It ups the game-play from annoying & tedious to just sort of being there, which is better than nothing.

After years and years about seeing /v/ talk about 3 and 4, i finally broke down.
I started with the first since i'm a "true gamer". Then 2, EP, 3, and 4 after. Not sure i care about getting 5 though. Not being able to fast foward is a scary thought.

Persona 3 was my first but I didn't finish it. I tried 1 and 2 for a while after that and really didn't care for them. I played Persona 4 Golden after that and loved it. Finished 5 a few days ago and it's my favorite.

I haven't played any of the side games but I may get whatever spawns from 5.

That's what I didn't like about P3 and P4 compared to the earlier games. You just fought shadow things instead of the demons themselves, and there was no negotiation or goofy things to do like dancing or lecturing at all.
Hell, your Personas actually had their own characters in the earlier games. You could have Personas themselves negotiate with enemies of their same type or family.

There's a reason they keep using the Eikichi archetype and also a reason it never really works as well in that Eikichi's very much in the vein of earlier delinquent manga and such where he's comedic but the sort of classic manly gangster values of honor, loyalty and compassion for those under you are held in high regard so it leads to a guy who can be an entertaining goofball and then serious the fuck up when he needs to.

That never really comes across in characters like Yosuke and Ryuji.

The closest you could say gets to him is Kanji.

Archetype is the wrong word. Role maybe? They exist to fill the role of good male friend who's goofy and one of your first party members (along with the female party member that he has a fiery argument filled relationship with). Junpei/Yukari, Yosuke/Chie and Ryuji/Ann all come from the Eikichi/Lisa mold in a broad sense.

I was about 1/3 through Persona 4 when I started Persona 3 and ended up getting way more into it.
