Trying to cheer Bea up or fuck around with Gregg whilst wanting to tie up the little mysteries about the characters and the town managed to keep my interest, also the music and presentation were solid. And Demontower was a nice HLD-lite.

Otherwise I agree the game itself lacked actual "gameplay" that could've easily come in the form of forest-exploration, more platforming and using Lost Constellation's elements since they took enough time to develop Mae's physics. Also lacked the promised "astral projection" elements that were initially advertised.

Also the plot goes kinda nowhere in the end, the Cult parts were somewhat half-assed, and Besnon's little tacked-on socialism/antifa shit turn what was Holowka's story about "fear of the unknown" and "the burdering of society" into "fuck capitalism/conservatives" propaganda for tumblr-points.

Don't know anything about that, if there was content planned it was simply never added. I didn't actually find this out myself, but rather another anon datamined the game files and found lots of unused content that was never fully removed for whatever reason. Mostly dialogue, but there's a cut Germ hangout that's about 50% complete graphically but is fully playable, actually. You can jump on an invisible trampoline.

We did learn a few neat miscellaneous things, like the Three Weird Teens that you can find on the cliff or at the Graveyard are girls named Pam, Karla and Brit, and that the Tezeloft Wolf is named Donna. There were also a few cut characters from probably very on in development that referenced a club that never got added. One was a wolf musician dude who invites Mae to hear him play at the club, to which she responds "I'm only 20." and he says, "Oh don't worry kid, you'll be a real person soon."

I like the game until the last act which turns into just a jumbled mess and doesn't really explain anything.

Parts of the game really hit home, I'm in my late 20s and I'm basically still stuck in the same position as Mae, had to move back home, no job, dropped out of college.

One part of the game that really hit me was the line about the Resume. "My resume is a zombie, dead, yet all over the place", I have the exact same problem, I've had fucktonnes of jobs, I just end up getting laid off or the business ends up going out of business after about 3-4 months. The longest I've ever held a job is 1 and a half years, and I'm 28 and that was a shitty retail job when I was 18.

Those parts hit home for me.

I think people who grew up in the Rust Belt will always have the game speak to them, as it's blatantly based on Appalachia (where the writer is from).

Well if you are working in a audio-visual, story focused medium, I don't see why you wouldn't ideally want to include voice acting. I can understand it as an artistic choice wanting to have these anthropomorphic animals retain more cute, non-human appeal but still. The characters speak in the game, there is dialogue in the game, how is the addition of voice acting at all controversial to you. Either way the main point was the price point of $20 is a bit much for an interactive comic book.
