Besides that, there's the occasional crash. All of this probably depends on how good your computer is though. I usually get 20-30 fps in most areas.

Yeah, but it took that long to get games running stable.

The PS3 is much more complicated than the PS2 or Gamecube. It was so complicated that developers who were making games for it had a tough time getting around a lot of issues it presented.

Do you know how most emulators don't care for core count and only care about singled threaded, or at most 2 core performance? That's because the architecture of older consoles was brain dead.

PS3 on the other hand on the CPU level introduces a bunch of complications and will be really hard to optimize (not impossible.) There is, of course, also a lot more graphics features that have to be implemented in for both AMD and Nvidia cards in multiple graphics API's (I think they focus on Vulkan and DX12 now)

It's more complicated than a PS2 or Gamecube emulator, and after all this work they are accomplishing things and proving it's possible. If you don't like the speed or some feature, because it's open source, you can just go in and add to that feature set itself. Maybe even some day some turbo autist will come in and make massive improvements like that lady did with the LLVM compiler in Dolphin. But until then the progress is proving it's possible.

Focusing on FPS as dumb, because what is the point of making something run at 30,60, or a trillion FPS if it breaks 5 minutes into the game?

First you implement features, then you focus on speed.

It's what they did for Catherine and now that works perfectly.
