They need to go in, insta-kill something, drag back out, and be repositioned/drawn back to saftey by an ally. Any other B skill will leave themselves in the open to die.

Yeah, brave melees aren't very good compared to brave ranged or blade tome users, but there are so many shitty slow units in this game that literally cant function at a high level without brave weapons, so for a lot of people with few units to choose from, its probably their best bet to work towards one and make sure they have drag back.

He's + def, and with garding blow he can tank anything that isn't red, and kill them whenever he get bonfire, which is almost everytime due to brave axe.

Blue get into range, gunther charge in, kill with double hit, drag himself back to safety. If the unit a are not adjacent then he can charge back in again, hit and kill something else with bonfire, and dag to safety again.

Seriously. I COULD make it slightly better by using Frederick instead, but the difference is minmal.

you don't need tank for that fight, what you need is a dancer. Send kagero to kill the blue mage at the start of the game and then dance her out of the danger zone. If she doesn't suck you should be able to ohko him.
After that it should be easy to chip down everyone with julia while dancing her out of their range.
For the red mage nowi should be sufficient, maybe give her drag back if you can't get out of knights range.

Why does Zephy have that A skill? It makes no sense on him. He has low speed, and Wary Fighter. He is never going to double attack normally so the Speed boost is worthless. All you get from it is +5 attack at the expense of -5 Def/Res. Ideally Distant Counter would be the best choice but good luck getting someone to sacrifice it. Otherwise I guess Attack +3 maybe or Even HP +5
