Luna is best girl.
Also, playing through SF2 is a slogfest.
>>
>>373778721
Skip SF2. It's not worth beating.

SF3, on the other hand, was fucking perfect.
>>

Didn't she die or something? It's been a long time since I play the games, I can't quite remember.
>>
>>373778721
When i played sf1 i loved sonya.
never could find sf2 at a store, but when playing sf3 i slowly realized how great drills were.
>>
SF1 was whatever but had pretty nice story stuff, SF2 was cool for online at the time but otherwise improved next to nothing and had filler story, SF3 was amazing and I even like it more than the BN games
>>
I love that SF3 has a reference to best prosecutor.

She basically gets her body turned to data and scattered by a villain while cheering on Geo right in front of a villain, he then goes around gathers it for a arc to get her restored after ANGST.

>>373779064
The writers are heavily biased to Sonia, but drills are Better anyway.

I think the ANIMOO writers went full Luna too, but im not sure.
>>
SF3 was a fucking masterpiece

Don't listen to those anons

Sonia is best girl, she is the like the bro tier gf i always wanted to have

Anyways starforce is really good, i could never get into battle network but i played all the starforce games they would be perfect for 3ds remakes

The mc is a little shit in the first game but he slowly becomes great

Boring.

The best part of Battle Network were the references to the original series. Combined with a plot that resembled a Saturday morning cartoon, and it hit you right in the nostalgia and encouraged you to keep going, just to see who would show up next. At least, for the first playthrough.

Once they tried to focus on the plot in MMBN, the whole thing went to shit. Sure, I can appreciate that some people actually liked the plot in BN, but overall the writing and overall story was more of a generic system which was just there.

Starforce was basically Battle Network, except with a different cast and no callbacks to the older series. As such, it failed to attract the original audience and get interest the way that BN did. It also failed to get the BN fans, who just didn't like any changes after six games playing the same. I don't think that SF1 was really much different from BN games in general, just a somewhat different system involved.

I didn't watch the full thing, but Luna was featured pretty heavily. She's always following Mega around and has the whole tsun-thing going on over if she likes him or not, but Geo pretty much ignored her.

Decent series. Wish a SF4 got made.
>>
Nowhere near as good as BN got but I'd argue that all of the games are at least better than BN4 and BN1.

Also every single game is easily breakable if you get a few brothers, especially SF1 where enabling power ups isn't optional, and you can have 700+HP before your first virus battle (requires 3 Leo Brothers with 100% completion but it's TECHNICALLY possible).

bn 1 is considered the worst game in the series, same with 4. 2 vastly improves the whole system and is pretty great. at least try 2, 1 is pretty bad in comparison. 2,3, and 6 are the best
>>
>>373780378
BN1 is trash garbage. Start with BN2, and then just play the rest in order. Just only play BN4's first story mode and then move the fuck on to the next game because it's not worth it.

You were playing an incredibly repetitive game in order to get random chip drops, so that you could either:

A.) Throw the biggest numbers in a folder, give little regard to anything else, and just toss out a bigger attack every few seconds.
B.) Throw all the electric chips together so that you can repeatedly shock-stun opponents. (BN1-3)
C.) Throw together a wacky deck that takes advantage of a lot of interaction (Fire Ratton + Fire Stage + Grass Stage + fire attacks) and takes forever to put together.
D.) Throw together a bunch of items which are powered up by a single Soul to use.
E.) Basically forget about it and play the game like if they weren't there.

So it either boiled down to extreme cheese, or being fairly irrelevant. There wasn't really much else to the game itself (the story was cheese as fuck, as mentioned) and VS mode mostly boiled down to who put together the most cheese.

Actually they weren't random, specific Busting Ranks would give you specific drops. The games even tells you how your rank for battles determine what will drop.

Personally when I play the games I just take whatever comes and piece together something somewhat consistently coded. Except BN4, whenever I play that I just cheat a full pack in and use whatever silly folder I feel like.

Collecting games are addictive and it's not just random chance that Battle Network got compared to Pokemon and card games back then. It's all fairly similar, so it's not surprising that someone who enjoyed Battle Network would enjoy (and perhaps spend too much time on) other similar games involving collecting things.

>>373787474
Yeah, I'm familiar with how the busting ranks work in regards to cards. However, outside some specific circumstances, getting a high rank will be up to either a lucky deck draw or few enough enemies that you can eliminate them easily.

You certainly could set a specific chip of be the default and go hunting enemies which you could one-shot for a quick kill (movement lowers the busting rank, much like time and taking damage) but that requires a sizeable pool of chips to choose from. Anything earlier than that, and you are mostly relying on luck or quick interruption shots for a fast kill.

Did you 100% them? Especially for 3 since that had the most endgame content. Believe me the game really changes at this point and none of the strategies you listed will work. Building the strongest folder possible is necessary.

>>373788981
Getting a high rank on a specific enemy is easy late game, which is the only point you are required to collect chips. Until you beat the game you're meant to work with what you get and the difficulty reflects that. Endgame content assumes you can get any chip so it's way harder.

>mfw discovering the vast amount of cut content in 3-6 that was e-reader customization and real-time battles.
The shit you could fucking do in these games was amazing. You had way more options than what the NaviCustomizer gave you. Shit was ridiculous.
Hell, in 4 you could even customize the UI colors.

And then there was the real-time battle system where instead of controlling Megaman directly he acted on his own and you supported him with chips in real life, just like how the game tries to portray how battles actually work.
>>
>>373789774
>Did you 100% them? Especially for 3 since that had the most endgame content.
Are you talking about Serenade? Because no, I never did get around to fighting him. Then again, did anything else other than Serenade (and Bass) require NrthWind or other chips to remove barriers to fight them? Because I'm not sure if my ZapRing + Bunny + FlashMn + ElecStyle (plus GelRain) strategy really needs to change from BN3 if that isn't a concern.

Serenade doesn't have an aura. His gimmick is different and stunning him doesn't work either. The time trials after beating him don't let you use your customized folders at all. Your folder probably doesn't deal enough damage quickly and won't work at all against omega alpha. I never used any of the chips you listed beyond just testing them. I usually used geddon, snake, and +atk with most other chips for utility or defense. I think the variety between different people playstyles is one of the reasons I like the games so much.
>>
Why do people dislike star force 2, other then the encounter rate?

That's litterally the only complaint I hear about it relative to 1 yet people act like it's so much worse
>>
>>373793428

>>
>>373793295
ZapRing fires an electric ring which paralyzes for a short time. Bunny is one of those captured monsters, which does the same thing. (You actually get ZapRing chips from the bunnies.) FlashMan hits the whole arena with an electric paralysis attack. ElecStyle isn't a chip, it's a style, and its charge attack is an electric ring with paralyzes.

So, the general strategy is just charge up a shot, hit an enemy with it, hit them with ZapRing while charging another shot, hit them with the charged shot, etc. It's basically an infinite stun as long as you have chips, and if you have FastGauge and enough chips in your folder, that's rather easy.

GelRain is an advance program when using 3x AquaGels of any level. It drops nine gels, each of which will either deal damage or take control of a panel for you. So, either an enemy is getting hit for 7x 150 damage if they are in the front row, or you are taking over the entire enemy side if they are hanging out in the back.

SENTINEL STAR FORCE.jpg

I love the Star Force series, 1st one is great, 2nd one is okay(wouldn't recommend starting with it.) and the third game is absolutely amazing, the best Mega Man game that no one played.

The series actually has pretty strong writing(SF2 is an exception for the most part) and I found battles to be a ton of fun, faster paced than their predecessors(MMBN) way more accessible, and simply not as tedious, while I don't feel the Battle System is necessarily better than the one in MMBN, I do prefer it by a significant margin.

I think Star Force's greatest strength is also it's greatest weakness, it's different enough to be enjoyable regardless of whether or not you like Battle Network, but at the same time it tries to appeal to the BN audience as well and the streamlined mechanics weren't likely to sit well with all of them.

Definitely the most underrated Mega Man series no doubt though, Hyped about the new Mega Man figure line finally deciding to give Star Force some love though.
>>
>>373794056
I forgot about capturing viruses period and GelRain since I only performed it for the P.A. star. I still think doing enough damage would be a problem. Some of the bosses would still be a bitch like drillman or bass. I remember bubbleman being the most annoying out of all of them, especially since to run into his third form you need to be low hp. I also usually end up getting fire style too.
>>
>>373794862
oh my god fuck bubbleman
jesus christ he is the worst fight
>>
>>373794862
>I also usually end up getting fire style too.
Fire Style is fun with Lava Stage (healing + enemy damage) and Grass Stage (double damage for one attack). It's also fun to use with the Fire Ratton and the bombs, since you can set them off yourself with a charged shot and don't need to rely on another chip.

Fire Style wasn't really good outside that, though. The flamethrower was just too slow and you were stuck in that position after firing for too long. Aqua Style was probably the best in general, since it basically gave you a better charged shot which could hit behind blocks and no drawback to the shot. Elec Style (for paralyze) was good as well.

Wood Style just sucked.
>>
>>373795195
WoodStyle wasn't so bad if you got paired with Guts, because the charge shot could deal some major damage.

I really liked Star Force, it was nice watching Geo start out as a reclusive asshole and slowly get bullied into going to school and being a decent person and shit. I'm glad they got to develop him over a couple of games instead of it getting cancelled after 1 or some shit.

I never really did reconcile how there were chip shops for him to use battle moves as an FMian on the wave roads though. I mean did navi card battling still exist? It seemed like Big Wave just existed for Geo alone (and the little crab dude) but it was a neat series.

I really wish we got that fucking BN/SF crossover game/chapter whatever it was. I really wish we got a new iteration too for the 3DS, just another MM chip battler style game would be great.
Drills good, but Sonia a best.

Fire style had the most tech uses, really.

Fire had all the stuff you listed
Wood had grass stage + undershirt cheese
Elec had stunning charge shot for sure shot hits
Water had spammable fast charge shots

FUCK Wood's charge shot 99% of the time, though.

I think battle cards are used in Star Force to bust viruses the same way battle chips were used in Battle Network. Though I'm only guessing, I'd imagine that transers can be used like PETs to perform maintenance on electronics and bust viruses that way, with the battle cards.

If nothing else, consider it something you just aren't supposed to think about, like how some battle chips/cards have Mega Man's picture on them.

The encounter rate is too high, the story is pants on head retarded and the entire game is basically filler.

It also had a bunch of stuff removed in the European release. All the wave command codes were deactivated for no real reason other than Capcom didn't feel like releasing it.

Also not really a negative but there were two pseudo auto brothers (LM Shin and 1st Megaman) that were distributed by DS Download stations that are basically unobtainable now if you don't have them or a second DS, a flashcart and the distribution rom.

I only remember playing the Dragon one when I was younger, but I remember that Sonia > Drills

They are, but it's done without Navis. NPCs bring it up early on in the first game and then it's just never addressed again.

sf2 isnt terrible, but story felt weaker cause the new characters werent that interesting. hollow was pretty cool, but solo was such a bad edge character. it gets annoying trying to fight apollo. you go through so much random battles and get so little money from them that its such a chore to buy the necessary chips. bad encounter rates can ruin games for a lot people

You say this like it's an odd thing in Video Games.

Believe it or not I've seen a ton of people start this series with MMSF2, 40% of the time it rubs them the wrong way for many of the same reasons most MMSF fans have regarding it.

If you're gonna pick up a random entry in the series, it may as well be 1 or 3, they aren't half as annoying.

i remember somewhere that mmbn 4 was the most popular/sold game in the franchise. thats what kinda caused the downfall though

Star Force seems like the obvious entry point because two games on one cartridge what could possibly go wrong.

>tfw no Aqua Pirate
>tfw no Neutral Angel

Right about everything for the most part, I do actually like Solo, Lady Vega, and Hollow though, Solo's background and backstory aren't half bad, it's just executed in such a poor and stupid fashion in game so it kind of loses impact.

I feel like he becomes likable in MMSF3 especially in the post game, I think he's one of the better rival characters in Mega Man desu, his boss battles are always cool(In MMSF2 it's fantastic, very challenging) he makes a good impact every time he's on screen, he serves as a perfect opposite to Geo/Mega Man, and for once he's a rival who has motivations that don't necessarily involve trying to become more powerful or prove he's the strongest, he just wants to preserve his culture as it's last descendant.

solo was pretty good in sf3, i'll give you that, but the way he was portrayed in the second just got annoying, maybe if he appeared less and was more of an enigma like bass it would have been more interesting, keeping the player guessing who he is, but thats just me i guess
using zeker kinda made him trivial though,
but he did make a good fight

iirc the anime had civillians use the battle cards and it would just materialize and kill the virus
>>
I think I have the anime downloaded
Can I watch it instead of playing SF 1?
>>
this was taken over a 3d battle network game
that is all

It takes place in the classic timeslot (20XX) in a timeline where Dr. Light's network technology took off instead of Wily's robotics.
Light and Wily also show up.
Lan's dad is Dr. Light's son. 'Hikari' means light, geddit?

MegaMan.EXE
FireMan.EXE
ElecMan.EXE
etc. etc. etc.EXE

Dr.Light doesn't show up. Dr. Tadashi Hikari does.

How is this not Dr. Light?
>>
>>373805687
Easy, it's Tadashi Hikari, not Thomas Light.
Simple as that.
I totally recognize that it's alternate Dr.Light. I'm just joking around.
