The point of playing them is to have fun and experience their story and characters. Just like FinalFantasy games the only thing connecting them are general themes (like crystals and chocobos in FF)

Lots of people in the popular scope of souls community (streamers, reviewers, pvpshits, redditshits, etc. branded the game as dead because the connection issues. People were also (and still are) super fucking salty about exclusivity. BBfags are sensitive that their personal GOAT doesn't receive the recognition it deserved publicly and in the eyes of the people they enjoy watching play the game. Dark souls 3 was also such shit compared to BB but the connection is better and it's multi plat so the popular soulsfags left BB. It's a dead game, but at least before Nioh you could still actually find PvP. I am a BB pvpshit and proud to be, but here is the honest truth of why people perceive BB the way they do and why it has this rapid fan base of actual dedicated players who staunchly defend it. Nioh took away player base, and so will Nier. Any good game that comes out with even decent combat or actual great combat (these two) will steal it's thunder. And BB didn't ever have nearly as much thunder as souls, but it fucking deserved it. It's a literal perfect game if not for the often shitty online connection mechanics. Now here, enjoy the fruits of my labors in the chalices.
