I'm doing 1kat/spear and enjoying it a lot so far. I definitely need to work more on doing the sick combos though.

I've only used Isonade and Fuse-ishi (or whatever the bull is called).

Also Onmyo is fucking great. Oasis and Rejuvenation Talismans = 4 extra heals to save your elixirs. Moment Talisman is sick as fuck and the elemental shots are swag.

currently level 61, going for a ninja build. So far I've died 61 times total (you can see how many times you died in your stats btw)

I thought I was pretty far in after beating the white tiger because they were starting to mention Oda nobunaga alot but it turns out i'm only at the 9th boss from 20 or so

Seriously, aside from the spear, all of the non katana weapons suck cock. Axe/hammer is horribly slow and boring, and kusa is terrible in bossfights. 1 kat is the most versatile and technical and 2 kat is SPEED as fuck.

I've only just started this afternoon, but I'm going 2kat and axe, picked the bird to start. Took spirit to 11 for the nice bonuses and dropped a point in dex for some ninjutsu. It takes me fucking three hours to get from one shrine to the next and each level just feels like a monumental chore to progress through.

I have Fire Papers and an armor debuffing talisman. It's letting me shred bosses.

I also have the Red Demon full set. I offhand the spear for the bonus. It -rapes- shit because you get a massive attack power boost to enemies on fire.

No, you should always be in middle stance and use the double dodge after she does her inhale sound. Evade her kicks and counterattack. Block her first umbrella hit and dodge the others. Completely block her spin attack. While shes in air, sprint a lot. If you do ninjutsu, shoot her down. Careful after you drain her stamina and start bashing on her, shell grab you fairly quickly. Actually, no. It's because I feel like i've started seeing the "Everyone is the same" reality.

Let me explain; below certain amounts of stat-dump, you have a build. You might be abusing the broken magic (SLOTH TALISMANS LOL YAY I BROKE EVERY BOSS IN THE GAME COMPLETELY), or you might be a ninjutsu using kusarigama guy.

Once you're around 100, and you start seeing diminishing returns around ~30-35 points into a trait, you start dumping into other things for bigger gains.

Once you're at 30/30/30/30/30/30, what's the point? You're a generic jack of all trades.

So to go above a certain point, you're literally just washing out your build into the generic end-game samurai.

I want to retain my build. I want to retain some sense of not having dumps in every column, and while you could argue you could keep dumping to 99 in your core stats, that's incredibly sub-optimal and the game rather encourages you to diversify above 35-40 points in any stat.

Learn how to utilize Ki-Pulse, and Flux to get more stamina back. Blocking is actually pretty shit and is liable to get you killed.

I ditched heavy armor and focused on armors that gave me attack bonuses. Also get magic so you can debuff enemy defense.

NPCs have to hit you while your ki is in the read in order to force you into the broken state.

You have to hit NPCs while their ki is in the red to force them into the broken state.

The only thing the NPCs have over William is that their ki regenerates a lot faster and their pool is enormous in comparison.

Luckily William's ki-damage focused moves do a percentage of basic NPC ki in damage instead of a flat value.

Light armor is the best weight class, but it's missing some stats that you might want if you aren't focusing on either ninjutsu or onmyo.

Just craft Legendary Strategists gear. It gives you enemy radar, treasure radar, and some other good stats as set bonuses.

Enko's magic attack does a ridiculous amount of damage, and sets anything that isn't fire-elemental on fire guaranteed.
