Mods
Conan Exiles will feature full mod support on PC. This is planned to be available from the start of Early Access. Mod developers will be able to download a custom Unreal Engine editor, letting them create a whole host of modifications to the game. Bought it last night to play with /v/. After a bit, it just gets really tedious. I know it's supposed to be a game to play with a crowd, but it sucks that you can't step out of the starter area without gators, hyenas, and enemy NPCs chasing you. It especially sucks because they all focus you down, and don't even interact with one another.

The game has a lot of problems in relation to the values needed to craft shit. I know you can alter that via the server options but the default is still ridiculous. The animations have a lot of work to be done especially that enemies have no animations unless 10 ft in front of you and combat sucks dick the dodge doesn't work properly and shields break too easily.

Side note how the fuck do you get iron and coal?

So, am I just boring and dead inside or are survival games just...dumb? I mean, you spend the majority of the time picking up rocks and sticks, building stuff with rocks and sticks, that allow you to get more rocks and sticks, to build even bigger stuff with this fucking endless orgy of rock and stick.

The ''combat'' is literally something an indie dev could have made. There are little imps with tiny imp penises that, I'll admit, made my laugh my ass off for a good ten minutes. But, there isn't any combat. At least, no combat that isn't the same frame as farming for rocks and sticks.

Games okay, other than the obvious server issues it has a lot of balance ones as well. Levels 1-9 are a pain, pretty much just run around dying to everything that's not a ugly pygmy thing, not much fun stuff to craft either.

And the combat sucks, it's worse than skyrim. Can't believe how few people seem bothered by it. Pretty much a decent base though as long as they fix it and follow through with stuff.

Seems to be focusing on primitive only with no mounted combat. Eventually there will be some basic magic, but they say nothing like fireballs or shit. Also you can capture npcs and mindbreak them to use as sentries.

you'd think that basic shit like that would be dealt with quickly but MMOs release without an endgame all the time too.

even in minecraft(the quintessential example for being safe after 2 days and only dying if you try to) all they'd have to do is let skeletons shoot arrows through windows, let creepers try to blow holes into your walls, let zombies open/break down your doors and windows and let spiders try to crawl in through the windows or roof or try to burrow under your house if you don't have a proper floor.

ironically terraria isn't a survival game and it has great reasons for you to leave your house (the corruption and hallow might destroy the map and the jungle in the process)

iirc don't starve has that problem fixed as well with things like winter

well you can't raid if you don't have a fortress setup, because raiding opens you to being counter-raided or revenged, and if you spent all your resources on rocket launchers while you only have a wooden shack you'll get wiped immediately (unless being a hit and run desert bandit who occasionally launches guerilla assaults is what you were going for)

and in most of these games it takes a long time to prep for PVP, in rust you need to get enough guns and rockets and armor for everyone in your clan, in ark you need all that plus it takes a lot of time and effort to tame good dinosaurs to defend your base or assault other bases

but one of the more pressing issues is that these games don't have tutorials but have a shit ton to learn, none of the streamers have guides so they'll have to figure out how to raid all by themselves and the wiki is barebones at the moment

that happens because there's nothing to do in a lot of these games, ark has the right idea by offering you bosses, many large caves, and hundreds of dinos to tame. so if conan hopes to avoid that they'd need to incentivize big tribes to fight each other, incentivize people to bother with PVE, and make sure that there's not much motivation to waste your time killing nakeds on the beach when you're high tier

It's a fun race day 1 of the server. Everyone is on even footing then, so whoever is being fast and efficient will get ahead of the curve and can go raid people.

No, to break down Tier 1 walls and doors you need a Tier 2 weapon, to break down Tier 2 walls and doors you need a Tier 3 weapon, etc. You can make a higher tier weapon faster and more easily than a higher tier house, though, so there's a point where the best people will have T2 gear + T1 house allowing raiding, or T3 gear and T2 house, etc.

Armor doesn't directly slow you down or hurt stamina regen, total weight does. If you're in the orange, it's a 10% penalty to both. If you're in the red, it's a 40% penalty to both.

If you want to wear heavier armor, put more points in Endurance. It's pretty much the best stat, only reason to put points elsewhere is because stats cost more points for every 5 you get (which encourages more even distribution instead of single stat dumping).

can I refund this game at any time due to it being early access, or does that gay 2 hour rule apply? I don't want to buy an early access game but people keep bugging me to play it with them despite the servers being trash atm.
